Yes, if you heavily modify something for yourself or your costume- of coarse this is fine and expected in some cases (and needed to be done for accuracy purposes as well), but you should not produce the same modified item for others without the consent of the original maker of the base product out of respect. As in the other post about my BARC shoulder bell where I clarified this. This is my personal take on it. My advice is to sculpt it in your preferred medium from scratch, takeing progress pics along the way, this would be the only way to truely call it "your own" and available to others.

So If I bought it for reference and measurements and to give me an idea for sculpting you are saying I could call it mine. Well I will write a consent letter to Studiocreations then about this and see what he thinks. Thanks Mike for the help.

If I remember correctly, their site actually provides illustrated measurements of the parts. By all means contact them and LTK what your trying to accomplish.

YA he does provide measurements but to tell the truth (just like jason said) you can't and it is almost impossible to make something perfect out of just measurements with out somekind of example. Its like when you are writing a song It is so much easier to write a bass part with hearing as example of what you like than without one. But I think I will buy one and use it as an example for sculpting my own out of clay. I have one last question. I have heard of sculpting out of foam. how is this process done?

So have we reached a consensus that this GM shoulder bell is the same as the BARCS ? I need to know so I can continue with this project as far as "filling out" the bells overall shape (rounding the bottom edge and adding a littel bondo to sculpt it out more for the slight squarish ridge look.

Mike, superb! I want a set of GM knees and a left shoulder bell! Those metal brackets look really, really good. Kudos to the metal worker. I'd probably leave my brackets bare metal, just to show them off!
