True that, especially with all this progress!
I like the choice of fiberglass or plastic parts. For knees, I'd rather have plastic, just so it has a bit more bend to it, and can handle a bit more stress.

I'd even be willing to collaborate with someone here with a VAC table if anyone was interested Hey PGHFETT what did you mean by this? I specialize in FG parts, but I would would be willing to hook up with someone with a good Vac table and send them some of my parts to VAC for everyone. That way we can all have a choice of either Vac'ed plastic or FG - both have their good qualities, for instance, FG parts are easy to assemble and snaps can be glued to fg parts with pretty much any type of adhesive. Plastic parts are light weight and less brittle in colder climates. Hey, Mando - we will all have great GM costumes (not just some of us) if we all work together. Mike Hey Mike I would definetely be willing to hook up with you with my vac table. You make such great stuff and I bet a lot of people would really like some cheeper vacume foremed stuff of yours. Just PM me and we can work something out.

O.k. here are the shoulder bell measurements as promised and as it stands now. All measurements were with a flexible tape measure (cloth). Be advised, I still plan on bondo-ing the piece to achive the described "square-ish" look as seen in the pics on the lower sides of the shoulder area. I'm also going to alter it and copy the rounded bottom edge as well. More to come Youngling, I'll pm ya tonight.

Mike, is this a vacuum-formed part that you modified? Or did you make this completely from scratch?

pghfett those look GREAT...they look UBER canon (or at least damn close...)...But, for our purposes at least, they look as close to perfect as I think anybody will get (no offense anybody else)...

Hey man no offense taken. I know that a lot of prop builders here are much more experienced and a WHOLE lot better than I am. But do to the fact that about 4 people are depending on me I will still make this peice and also the fact that I like a challenge and really love to vac form my own armor.
But on a different note guys my armor I know I have said this like 15 times but here goes again. I am sorry. I decided that the part on my knee was just too big and so I had to modify it and then I just decided that I will wait till Saturday when I will have all the molds ready then I will do one big vacuumform and get a couple of orders done. Today I got the hands the knees and the calf perfected I do not think that any of those peices need any more work. The shins needs to be smoothed out and have the center detail added to be complete. The elbows I ran out of plaster and I only needed like a teeney weenie bit to finish the mold but that means I will have to wait till tomorrow to buy more plaster and then pour it. Well once again I am sorry.

hey youngling, don't worry about the time...I would rather see, and I think that everyone else here would agree with me, a near-perfect mold that takes awhile to get right and made and shipped and all that jazz, than to get something that was slapped together...You sound like you kind of admire all of these guys who make GREAT stuff (as do I)...Well, these guys got good at the forming and molding and all that by taking their time and perfecting their art...And from what I have heard shaping/molding/vacuumforming is not a quick OR easy process...so don't worry about the time...

I want to clarify as well here that the shoulder bells I have that I'm working from were vac fromed by someone else, not by be. I bought them with a partial set (which had some badly formed componants) about a year ago. I don't know who made them because I got them from someone who didn't make the set, so I'm not sure who actually made the bells. I'm using the above shoulder for my BARC costume but I'm also going to use it as a 3d reference for sculpting a set of GM armor shoulders which will include the modified right shoulder bell, then and only then I can call them my own.
I did not make the vac formed shoulder bell and even tho it is going to be heavily modified, because I am not the original builder of the vac formed part (I don't know who is actually, it was purchased from another memeber from a different board who also was not the builder) I cannot make these available to anyone until I actually sculpt the pieces myself. It may sound petty but thats just the way I am and the right thing to do. It's actually for my barc build anyway.
Mike

Using your measurements I am going to cut up a TB bell I have and use that. I will also use a TB bell for the right.

Here is mine Before I cut: After I cut: Side by side with a standard TB bell. Which I will use as a RH GM bell. The line on the RH marks the bottom edge of the ridges when installed.

Wow those are looking pretty good. Hey Guys I was thinking of buying a TB bell and modifying it to make a vac mold for my peices that I was going to make. I was wandering if this would be considered plagerizing or stealing his already given shape or if it would be legal.
