Hello my friends, here the latest pictures of my GM which i used for a new attempt to get approved...... They told me, my epaulets and the handplates were to big so i trimmed them, got a new helmet , a new chest , new ellbows and new shins . Also the Kama is new and the left shoulder bell. Lots of work, but now finished. The Cowl and the toe-armor need some weathering as well..... will be done next week. What do you think? (The more i work on the GM, the more prouder i become !!!) The Weapon is my selfmade DC-15 Long. Yours Philip

Looking so awesome, you have really come along way!!! Isn't that Heastshock helmet the BOMB!!!!! The only thing that I can advise you is that you stomach area should be gray like your pants and the black top mainly shows in the spaces between the aromr on your arms and more weathering, mainly on your chest, arms, and shoulders. Check out my pics for ideas on the weathering and colors. But. great job!!!!

@dan: dan my friend, many thanks for your opinion about my Gm which you gave me all over the time i was building it. No words can describe how you all helped me to be at the point where i´m now !!! And you´re right - this Heatshock-helmet is fantastic !!! Also the chest and the shins from redkraytdragon. The weathering will come, but i can´t wear it and weather it, so i have to wait till my girlfriend is here and she puts it on.... but it will come. (and i´ll take a look at your one, promised) Once again many thanks. Yours Philip

hey, ist getting better, good luck with getting approved, you ever think of redoing the knee fastener?

didn´t know that, the different shoulder bell is okay, but different strap colors are a pain in my symmetric eye seems that i picked the wrong costume *lol* If so i revoke. two times yes to your questions, germans are taking over ;-) but i am going the long scratch build way as you startet too.

It is looking so much better Phil!!!. Congratulations. Adding to what Dan said, there are some other areas to improve, but I think that maybe you've reached or are much closer to an approvable range now. The more simple to improve a little bit without much effort would be the length of the kama straps, and the buckles of the knee armor that are not seen in the GM. It is great that you use the different colors in those straps though!.
The new parts you got are so amazing that they have definitely raised the bar of your costume. So much that maybe in the future and without any hurry to be approved, you could consider making all those little adjustments to get an amazing costume.

Hi Philip, Well here's what I see my friend. You've made many great improvements over your initial attempts, but I have to say honestly that you really still have a ways to go. As a former GML myself and someone who is in the business of sculpting things, it's my 'duty' (if you will) to practically dissect these costumes to make them as accurate as possible when sculpting them. Please don't take this as a criticism of your armor, merely an observation as to why you're likely not getting approved. Forearms - innaccurate, too "can" and "cylindrical" shaped...they should be tapered to conform to your forearms. Need to be improved or replaced Elbows - not quite there yet. They look like there's no "beef" to them, just like a curved piece of plastic with no edge to give them an appearance of thickness..the shape is not quite right. I would recommend remaking them or replacing them. They are also way too white, need more weathering. Biceps - Also inaccurate and not the correct shape. Epaulets - Appear to be accurate enough, but you need to find a way to secure them better to your shoulders, they're just kinda falling around going different directions. They should stick out uniformly across your shoulders with the top surfaces of them being parallel to the ground. Right shoulder bell - From what I can see, those loops are kinda messy. They need to be redone or cleaned up and straightened... they kinda look wavy. I would recommend redoing them or replace the shoulder bell entirely. Also, your bell is sitting way too far back and needs to be secured better to your arm so that it has equal amounts of material covering your front and back. It also needs to sit more over your bicep. In those pics it's barely touching the top of it. Left shoulder bell - looks passable from what I can tell, as most of it is covered up. But it should be ok Backpack - This one is probably a deal breaker. While it is a vast improvement over the first one, it's still wrong. The outer shells are the wrong size and shape(s). The shape and size of it as a whole is wrong as well as the materials you used...they should be hard armor parts but they look to be cloth wrapped in foam or something (?). The pouches hanging off the back are incorrect as well as the canister. Boot armor - Also the wrong shape (they should conform better to your boot hugging it and the shins tightly - yours hang over the edges and stick out rather noticeably) and the surface of them is extremely rough and pitted. They should be redone or replaced. Kama - Needs more weathering and is hanging wrong. White jumpsuit straps - need to be tucked in. Weathering - Your chestplate, shins, and boots are a little too clean...especially the chest plate. Large belt pouches on the front are too wide and should be resized. As for all the rest of the soft parts and greeblies, I cannot comment on them as I'm not yet quite that familiar with them, so maybe Dan or someone else can chime in. Also, remember too, that when you submit your photos, your armor, helmet, and suit and all pieces and parts need to be worn/attached/etc correctly for a proper presentation. If they are not, that can also hinder your approval. I hope this helps you on your goal to becoming 501st approved and good luck . Remember, we're here to help you to achieve that goal, but you have to listen to what we're telling you. Some of the things I listed above have already been pointed out to you before by myself and others.

dear will, no panic.... i´m still here and i´m still your friend I´m just waiting for the latest news from my GMO of what to do on my GM. I changed the snaps on the knee-straps, now they look as "one piece". My GMO told me, there are only some small "details" to change and the way is ready for approval. Keep your fingers crossed, ok? What do you think about this GM? Met him on an event before two weeks...... Yours Philip

Sounds good my friend, I wish you the best of luck on your approval. On to the GM you just posted...well, that one needs a lot of help and I can tell you at first glance that most of his parts really should be replaced: Boot armor Shins Biceps Chest both shoulder bells Epaulets Backplate looks way too large --------------------------- Jumpsuit is a little too baggy Not really feelin that helmet or backpack either :/ Tell your friend to just start searching the boards here and over on CT to start getting more info and references (as well as resources and looking at others' WIP's) to help him on his way

No response at all?? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you my friend...I apologize Your response was "CRUE" or "TRUEL" (may have sounded CRUEL, but it was TRUE, hence: "CRUE" or "TRUEL") Good luck Phil with your new revisions. You are definitely improving more and more with each of them and moving in the right direction. Just compare your GM today with the one you started!. Regarding the new marine, and trying not to sound offensive, I'll be CRUE: it would be more simple to start with what is correct or accurate: the hand armor, the knees and the ammo boxes. Mostly everything else would need to be replaced or corrected for today's approval standards I believe that the GM approval was much more relaxed in the past, specially for the first GMs, probably because they were a novelty, and mostly because there were no references, but now the standards had raised to a reasonable requested quality. So I wouldn't be surprised if a GM with that quality was approved a few years ago, but it definitely shouldn't be approved today.

dear friends, this marine from my friend i posted is an approved one. met him at our legion gathering. i told him what to do with his marine but he doesn´t want to hear it..... "my marine is approved, so before you talk about what is wrong get your GM approved as well" - this was his answer. but i don´t matter... i know my GM is much better than this one... an i told him. (don´t know we are still friends now) I also told him to become a member of this forum to get help like i did.... (answer see above). If he won´t get your help, i´m still very happy about it !!! Once again many many thanks to all of you !!! Yours Philip
