Awesome Squirrel. Welcome to the marines. It's nice to have an experienced ct.net guy over here (no offense to anybody else).

I'm not saying that there are NO other experienced ct.net guys, but I'm pretty sure that Squirrel has been on their and making armor longer than most of us. I only joined ct.net last october.

Haha I know, just pulling your leg. For reference though, Squirrel joined ct.n last september. I don't know what that extra month of experience does for him but it's probably something big. In all fairness, I know he was a TX before he started work on a TC, same way most of us did because TC's are fairly new in SW (so many acronyms)

So what did you do before TC/GM apollo? This will be my first armor ever, either TC or GM (whichever one gets done first (probably marine)).

Haha a few halloweens ago I made a pretty BA Boba. Really, it was crap, my first attempt at armor. I got involved in custom mandos which really helps to learn about putting things together because there's a lot of finding random things to make armor from and it's pretty fun. I'm also working (very slowly) on a sandie

Sandies are ausome. My first armor I ever wanted to make was a good ol snowtrooper. They are still my absolute favorite and what I will make after my GM. I was going to make a ST when I found the TK560 site and I decided to try my hand out at a few stormtrooper blocky molds to get the hang of it. It was great I then weathered up the few peices I had done to look like a sandie. Then I was hired to make a set of custom clone armor by a friend. I came over to ct.n and found torso_boy Gm and and just fell in love. Well here I am the hopeful 5th GM to ever join the 501st.

That's awesome you guys. I have always wanted to do a Sandtrooper (TD I think?). If things go well or at least well-enough with my TC and/or GM I will be making a Sand, Tusken, Rebel Hoth Trooper, Custom Mando (maybe BF) and possibly an RC. I am buying a real deactivated mauser to convert to Han's DL-44 tomorrow night.

The thing here (and this is really good advice for everybody, especially the new guys) is to not get so caught up in how awesome all the costumes look. Ideally, I would make an RC, about 5 different clones, a TD, a Snowy, a Jango, and my mando. But if I did all that I would have spent about 10 grand on costuming (before all the upgrades) and there's no way I'd ever be able to wear all those. So I'd have sent a bunch of money down the drain and there would by plastic all over my house just taking up space. I've got it down to 3 costumes now and that will really take me the next few years (because I want my Sandie to be as accurate as humanly possible) and then I'll spend the next 50 years continually upgrading and that will be fine with me lol. If you just get overwhelmed by all of the costumes, my suggestion is to just make the helmets for display. That's the coolest part anyway

I totally agree. I am in the works of several helmets but a few of the costumes say like neyo and cody I never plan to make I just want the helmets for a display and to help me make a little money to buy more stuff for some of my other costumes.

I totally understand what you guys are saying about this, but you know how some really rich people have medieval suits of armor in their foyer/entry way or some part of their house just to look cool? Well, the way I see it is I could have something that looks cool and if it turns out ok that is a decorative display piece for my home AND I could wear it if I want to. I don't see it as "I can only wear one costume per convention and then it just sits around", I see it as "hey Star Wars is the biggest and most favorite part of my life and to have props or armor semi-accurate to the movies and books physically in my world, why not"? I mean, I really get what you're saying, but to me, if the armor turns out really great (not perfect, but personally acceptable) it transcends costume into the realm of displayable props from my favorite stories ever.
And I don't know that I would actually do all the costumes I listed, but my backstory for this site is only half done. I kind of want a rebel hoth outfit just because I love hoth. And everybody does RC's so I'm not totally sold on that one. But for my backstory, after order 66 and a few jedi hunts, my character "Sci" would eventually join the rebellion later on after disappearing from the Empire. The only reason that I do Imperial costumes is because hard plastic armor is so much cooler looking than the almost all cloth rebel fleet troopers. I am and have always been a rebel at heart, but who could resist wanting to be a clone?
Sorry for the rant, not mad, just tired...I'm going to bed, see you guys tomorrow.
