Due to some encouragement back in early December

I have decided to post my progress. I had been avoiding it because I was worried that my scracth build would be picked apart and just plain not good enough.
Well I have nearly finished my arms. I just need to do a bit more weathering. The color comes out very RED in the pictures due to the flash, but in person I feel it is a good GM color. Here is a slide show of my work so far.

Most of the armor peices were made by me out of cardboard and covered with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. They look and feel like plastic now. The shoulder bells were made a bit different. The left on is a football knee pad and the right one is two Wal-Mart knee pads glued together. You can see the two black knee pads in the slide show.
As for the rest of the costume:
I have a belt,
I have pants (altough I might be replacing them),
I have ordered what I feel are the PREFECT shoe (I have been searching for them since August),
and I will be scratch building the shins, knees, backpack, and the belt pouches.
I will wimp out and buy a set of chest and back and a helmet.
TOTAL spent so far:
cardboard - free
epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth - ~$20
football knee pad - free (I coach 10th grade football)
Wal-Mart knee pad ~$5
Gloves ~$20
Belt ~$5
Shoes ~$30
Hasbro gun ~$11
Shirt ~$10
Pants ~$5
Paint, sandpaper, ect. ~$25
(I stopped keeping track a while ago, who knows now)
STILL NEED to buy or make:
helmet ~$150
mantle ~$150
ammo boxes for chest, arm and belt ~$30
backpack ~? (cardboard covered in white marine vinyl)
kama - ~$13 (already bought the maroon marine vinyl)
shins ~ free (same as above)
Here are some progress pics!
