Got even farther. Almost done now. Check my website tomorrow to see all of the progress pics. Here are a few! Dude, that is Nice! I'm hoping mine looks remotley close to yours by Thursday. How did you make the Toe armor? I'm probly going to sculpt mine with Super Sculpey and they wrap it in Vinyl. What's felt on that Bad Boy? Looks like just the SGB, Mantle, and Backpack. I know it's no nyghtcraft, but have you seen Torso_Boy's hand made Mantle made of a "for sale" sign and foam board?

Thank you for the kind words. This is my first "professional" costume. I have been working on it for a year now. It is quickly coming together though. Still a bit of work to do. The boots need a bit of work. The kama and pants need to be weathered. The toe armor is made with a base of cardboard covered in foamies, which is a craft foam I got at Wal-Mart. They are not the best and will be replaced at some point. But they are good for starters. Besides the things I listed above, the only things I need to do are the helmet (SGB kit should be here any day now), the mantle (will probably make my own for now), and the backpack (not critical now as I would not wear it to the theater even if it was done, can't sit with it on). I will be using Torso Boy's design for my first mantle and then replace it down the road. Or maybe not. Depends on how good mine turns out.

Your GM looks Gnarly! I'm hoping mine can look that good by Sunday. Considering I have all my progress posted, it will be a challenege, but I know I fee stong about still being possible. This is also my first "professional" armor. Though (I'm hoping) it will be done by next week it will not by all means be at the "Cannon" level. Just to the point where I can troop in it and look good.
Can't wait to see the Back pack (even though) you don't plan on having it by the Moobie premiere. I can tell your suit will look really tough once you get your SGB.
Torso_boy's mantle design is pretty good. I made one before I had my nyghtcraft and my chest piece so it looked good but it was too small. I was about to make a new one when I go the Nyghtcraft. I might make another one later on as a back up.

Toyhunter that is VERY nice looking. And completely (pretty much) scratch made to boot. Very impressive.
One question though: What did you use for the chest plate pieces (the circle, oval and 2 "buttons")? All of it looks great, but the oval and the circle both REALLY pop out at me and I have nothing done in that category yet.

Thanks! It is all pretty much scratch built. The only things I bought are the chest and back, the ammo boxes, the chest greeblies (PM sent bty), and the helmet of course (which has STILL yet to come). I will be making the mantle and eventually the backpack too.
I hope to have everything but the backpack done by the 14th for Clone Wars. Then I will do the backpack and submit for 501st approval.

Very nice. I can't wait. I have been getting some progress on mine lately (finally) but I am Ram, the arm assembly stuff is kicking my a**. I have never done it and figure that I am going to screw it up. But I will get some pics from mine and post them hopefully this weekend, assuming that I can find my camera...

Looking back now I think I must have been NUTS to try it, but it worked out great. Next time I will save the time and headache and just buy stuff that others are already making. But there is a strong pride that comes from makeing it yourself, that's for sure.

Yeah I know. Not for armor, but I build all my own shelves (and I mean MAJOR shelving systems like entire bookshelves) for my house. I built a computer and finished it in May/June and a few weeks ago I built a desk for it from scratch. I love building/making stuff.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think that is why we ended up in a place like this. I love to build stuff. Never with wood and power tools though. As a child I was never allowd to help my Dad with stuff like that. I was always the "direction reader" or some such stuff. I guess I was too intellectual for him or something. He was right about that (4 college degrees), but I still could have learned how to use tools...
Anyway, sorry for that weird rant. Back to the building cool stuff thing. Last night I wanted to build a cheap voice amp for my GM. I have seen the stuff that the "pros" use, and I did not feel like spending that. So I bought a few things at Radio Shack and put one together. I works great for my purposes. It is stuff like that that I love doing. I seem to enjoy it even more if I have no idea what I am doing.

Toyhunter, that is awesome. You really should make up a short how to (including what you used and such) for that voice amp. That would be awesome.

Toyhunter. I need a little help.
How did you attach the straps on to your knees? Progress on my GM is moving along. I'm still hoping to be done tongiht.
Also. I'm out of Sculpey so I might have improvise and my my toe armor out of cardboard. Running low on cash to buy new supplies.

I'm out of Sculpey so I might have improvise and my my toe armor out of cardboard. Running low on cash to buy new supplies. My knees, like most of my suit, are made of cardboard. I layered cardboard together and glued it. The straps are just elastic and I sandwiched the elastic in between the cardboard layers when I glued them together. As usual, that probably does not help you.

Cool, thanks anyway. I appreciate your help. I think I figured out how to hold mine together.
