Hello every one, I have been reading on this site for awhile, but only just got around to joining. I am new at this kind of costuming, and will probably ask a bunch of noob questions. But I am good at following instructions and am ready and willing to do homework. I have read a lot of stuff about star wars costuming, and would really like to do this as a hobby. Maybe with some luck, my stuff will come out close to yours! Thank you, MasterBlaster

Welcome. Glad you found an interest in the GM armor. You definitely come to the right place. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need. The Marines here are a great bunch of guys (and gals) and will help you to the best of our abilities...and with time your Armor will look great. Also, feel free to check out the older posts as you can always find something that may help you. I do have to warn you that the Galactic Marine is one of the toughest builds when it comes to Star Wars armor but it's also one of the most rewarding builds as we are one of the lesser known and most intimidating Clone Troopers when it comes to trooping and people asking for pictures at many events.

Why is it the toughest build? It looks simpler than the CT armour. At least the helmet does .

Since it's a lesser known trooper out of the Clones (which only had about 7 seconds screen time on the movies), there aren't many references and prop-makers out there. Also, some parts (if you want to be 100% accurate) are very hard to find such as the Kenneth Cole boot. It's also very time consuming trying to get some parts to look right such as the backpack and helmet. Not sure yet if you are building from scratch or planning on purchasing your parts. As I said before, we're here to help as most of the Marines have knowledge on the build or can help you find the parts you need. I set up a post not to long ago with links on where to find some (recommended) items. 53rdfac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=buy&action=display&thread=560Best of luck on your build. Looking forward to seeing you progress.

Sorry for not responding for so long, I have been real busy of late.
I am planning on doing a from scratch build using plastic and vacuum molding. But I am at a loss as to how to make my molds. I have heard of only two ways; clay sculpting and paper and bondo. Are there any other ways? Is there any place I can get patterns? Thanks again, I am new at costuming in general, so any tips would be great!

I have a few prop maker friends. I'll ask them.

Might be a while before I get that reply. My good buddy's baby daughter went into the hospital so it'll be sometime before I can talk armor with him. Baby's health is a priority right now.
