A great hello from Sweden! My name is Miranda and I just realized, after weeks of research and trying to make a decision, that I've picked one of the most difficult sw costumes that you can TRY to make... That sucks, but hey! I will give it a try, wish me luck. I will build everything from scratch (why make my life easy?).
Yay...

Sounds great! I've already been researching here for a while but I started feeling a bit rude without beeing a member, not introducing my self. But I've done sculptures before so I hope I will manage to make my own costume from scratch... I'm just worried about the lack of space here at home, plus I have a crazy Devon Rex cat... I was thinking of starting with the helmet and go from there. I still haven't got a feeling for which way, of doing the helmet, gives the best result. Any recommendations?

Welcome Miranda!! I have constructed and assisted with 6 different costumes (TK - Stormtrooper, TS - Snowtrooper, CT- Shocktrooper, GM - Galactic Marine, CB - Kashyyyk Trooper, & DZ [Jawa]), with three (3) being completely different style clones : Shocktrooper, Galactic Marine, and Kashyyyk Trooper. Indeed this is a tough build, but it certainly is worth it in the end, for this is one of the most kick ass and menacing looking costumes out there.
There is a member here who is building his helmet from scratch, perhaps look around in the "GM Helmet Section ". This place has an abundence of information and works in progress (WIPS). Should you have any questions or if you decide to purchase your parts, don't hesitate to ask. WELCOME!!!

Glad you made it here, this is the best place for all things Galactic Marine. You're right as far one of the most dificult costumes, but as Midniterider mentioned...it's alsom "worth it in the end". I also started with the GM as my first armor and to this day I am not 110% satisified. It's a long labor of love, even though my armor has been troopable since 2008 (for the Clone Wars movie release). What is Sweeden like, if you don't mind me asking? I would love to go visit if I ever get the opportunity. I know you decided to create your parts from scratch, but I have started a forum thread that may help you out on contacting prop makers for some parts (should you have troubles with some parts and can't go any further): 53rdfac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=buy&action=display&thread=560Also, as Midnite mentioned...you can also check out the Helmet threads as some of our members have made some helmets from scratch. Most of learn from each other here. Please feel free to check out some posts as you may find some helpful info on anything you may be trying to find and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Once again, welcome to the 53rd Fast Attack Company and I look forward to seeing you around on the boards. -RamZ Also, Our member Snowflake made most of his armor from scratch so contacting him or checking out his WIP may help you out too. I am not sure if it will help you but here is a link to my WIP on my Armor, when it comes time to set it up and rig it together. 53rdfac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=costumediscussion&action=display&thread=354
