The Galactic Marines, originally known as the 21st Nova Corps of the 4th Sector Army, was an elite unit that was created as the Grand Army of the Republic diversified during the Clone Wars.
Specialized Armor Galactic Marines and the clone cold assault troopers, the predecessors of the Imperial snowtroopers, wore similar body armor; the differences being omitted/retooled details on the Galactic Marine armor—particularly the maroon coloration—and the addition of a backplate. The Marines were distinguished by their unique, uncommon green visor gear: synthmesh designed to keep out various hazards such as snow, sand, airborne fungus, and ash.

Training The Marines were cross-trained to fight on a variety of environments in ground and space, making them extremely versatile. This unit was commanded by High Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi and Clone Marshal Commander Bacara, and were deployed to many planets such as Rhen Var, Aargonar, Boz Pity, and Mygeeto. Bacara demanded the best of his men, and would tolerate nothing less, unilaterally reassigning soldiers who did not meet his high standards.
At the Battle of New Bornalex, the Galactic Marines made use of prototype spacetrooper powersuits. Although the weapon systems on their new suits failed, the Marines continued to fight on. They engaged B2 super battle droids in hand-to-hand combat, using the enhanced strength granted to them by their powersuits. Their actions at New Bornalex earned the Marines a fierce reputation, making them one of the Republic's most feared clone military units.
Commander Bacara and a squad of Galactic Marines fought alongside Ki-Adi-Mundi during the Battle of Mygeeto. After receiving Order 66 from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Bacara and his squad turned on the Jedi and fired upon him. Although he was able to defend himself briefly, Ki-Adi-Mundi was overwhelmed by numerous blaster shots and gunned down.
It is very likely that Bacara and his men subjugated the planet in the name of the Empire after neutralizing the forces of InterGalactic Banking Clan.
The Marines possibly inspired the overall versatility of the functionally diverse Stormtrooper Corps.
Behind the scenes In Star Wars: Battlefront II, clone troopers in Galactic Marine armor are known as "clone commanders," but this similarity can be dismissed as an element of game mechanics, as only the game's storyline is considered canon. In function (not name), the Galactic Marines are essentially a Marine Corps, functioning both on land and in space.

They specialize in assaulting and protecting Spaceships, and planetary assault; they were also usually selected to test new equipment due to their elite status and famed adaptability. These elite troopers were predecessors of the Imperial Snowtroopers and wore similar armor except for the color and the backplate.
The Clone Marines were trained to fight in different environments in space or on the ground, making them versatile during battle. This unit was commanded by Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi and Clone Commander Bacara. They fought in Rhen Var, Aargonar, Boz pity, and finally Mygeeto. At the battle of New Bornalex, the Marines used prototype spacetrooper powersuits. Even though the weapons systems on their new suits failed, they kept on fighting. They engaged Super Battle Droids in hand-to-hand combat, using the strength granted to them by the powersuits. After this battle, the marines earned a fierce reputation, making them one of the most feared Clone Trooper units to exist.
Order 66 In 19 BBY they went to fight the Confederacy of Independent Systems forces at the Battle of Mygeeto alongside Commander Bacara and General Ki-Adi-Mundi. They later received Order 66 from Chancellor Palpatine; Bacara and a squad of Marines turned on Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and fired upon him. Mundi deflected some shots briefly and killed two Marines, but he was overwhelmed by numerous blaster shots and was gunned down. After Mundi's death the marines kept on fighting until Palpatine gave the orders to Darth Vader to shut down all of the battle droids. It was then that the newly christened Galactic Empire won the battle.
Outsider Information In Star Wars: Battlefront, Clone Commanders wore Galactic Marine armor, but this similarity can be dismissed as an element of game mechanics, as only the game's storyline is considered canon. The Galactic Clone Marines have been released as an action figure in the Star Wars 30th anniversary series. Many fans have therefore created custom-made figures of them.

Bacara was a clone commander who worked alongside General Ki-Adi-Mundi against the Separatist droid armies on Mygeeto, an Outer Rim planet controlled by the InterGalactic Banking Clan. Commander Bacara also went by the numerical designation Commander 1138. Though he fought alongside the Jedi in numerous battles, his ultimate loyalty was to the Republic and its Supreme Chancellor. When Palpatine contacted Bacara personally and executed Order 66, Bacara carried out the command without question. He and his fellow Galactic Marines opened fire on Ki-Adi-Mundi, killing their general. (CC-1138, a homage to THX 1138) was one of the first-generation commanders trained by the ARC trooper known as Alpha, and he served under Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi. Together they led the well known, and feared, Galactic Clone Marines. As part of the Galactic Marines, Bacara was well versed in space, ground, and zero-gee combat. Bacara's helmet featured reinforced cheekplates, and a communications antenna. Perhaps in homage to his ARC-trained heritage, Bacara and his troops wore kama, the combat skirts worn by ARC Troopers. The armour of Bacara's troopers was prototype Republic snowtrooper armor and supposedly the prototype Imperial Snowtrooper armor. They were the first to test the prototype of the Galactic Marine's powersuit during the Battle of New Bornalex and were known for their resourcefulness and aggressivness.
Near the end of The Clone Wars, Commander Bacara and Ki-Adi-Mundi were fighting against the Separatist droid armies on Mygeeto, an Outer Rim planet controlled by the InterGalactic Banking Clan. Though they had fought together in numerous battles, Bacara's ultimate loyalty was to the Supreme Chancellor. When Palpatine contacted Bacara and executed Order 66, Bacara carried out his orders without question, or hesitation. He and his fellow Galactic Clone Marines opened fire on Ki-Adi-Mundi, murdering their former General in cold blood.
