Hello dear all,
I can't believe I'm finally here, introducing myself. I've been reading the forum for months hoping to reach the day in which I could join, because I wanted to join only after building any part of the armor. And now I've reached that point, I've built some (the easiest) armor parts, so here I am, to start sharing and discussing and mostly (sorry) asking you about the GM armor. I also hope I could give anything back, but I'm afraid that won't be much since I'm an absolute newbie, but of course, it will be a honour for me if I could be of any help.
My build is enterily from scratch. I'm using 3mm sintra, reinforcements of fiberglass and of course our best friend: Bondo.
I will post pictures in the right topics very soon.
I'm about to finish the helmet, which I'm not totally satisfied with, but anyway I must wait untill installing the cowl and finish all of it before depressing about the results. It happens that from my POV, the helmet is what will give the GM most of it's look, so I considered it the most critical piece of the armor and I've started with it, leaving to it's results whether to continue with the build or abort it. We'll see. The first look I got was disastrous, looking very similar to an AT-ST driver, so I'm still in the works to try to modify it. Also working in the helmet without the faceplate helped to give that wrong look. Once I've tried the faceplate it changed a bit, and with the cowl it changed a little more, so we'll see when it's finished. Please try not to bee too hard with the critics!. hahaha. Anyway, I've almost finished other parts, the easiest ones, only needing the final touch for finishing them to fit comfortably. These are the knee pads, the forearms, the elbows and the biceps, which still require a little touch up. And I have started to shape a foam mold for the chest plate but it's still in the beginings.
I'm 39, located in Argentina (that's why the TANGO Fett nick) and this is my first ever armor/costume build. The only related thing I did before this is only put together a couple of things for a not very accurate Luke Skywalker costume for my older son , which as we all know it is very simple.
I hope I succeed with the Marine. I'm kind of obsessed with the coolness of this trooper.
Again, it is a honor for me to be here, not only because it means that I've started and I'm moving forward with the build, but because being part of this wonderful community.
