Hello 53rd!
My name is Jon and I have been lurking here and on the CT website for about two months now. I've done some budget (on time and money both) costume projects in the past but I now have a real bad itch to start something serious.
The Galactic Marine has a great look and feel to it, so after some research on this board and other resources, I've decided that the GM is going to be my next project.
Any works of advice would be great! I've got some novice level skills in working with bondo, fiber glass, rondo-ing (I think that's a word), EVA foam, pepakura and sintra. I am going to try to scratch build some smaller parts while I work on sourcing the more complicated bits.
Thanks!

Thanks and I definitely agree it's one of the more awesome costumes out there! I started some progression on small, misc parts. I've knocked out a few basics like the ammo boxes, hand plates and shoulder pads.
I'm documenting my progress at the link in my signature. I'm not usually good at documenting the steps, but I think it should help. Any comments or suggestions are welcome!

Hey Jon welcome to the 53rd!
Sorry for the late reply, the holidays have been a bit hectic. Glad to hear you got an interest in the Galactic Marine armor. As you may have noticed while you've been checking the forums (here and CT.n) these past couple of months...though simple in design it's one of the toughest Armors to build. Though you have the itch...and the drive this should be a very fun build.
Best advice I can give is to ask questions...lots of them since we usually learn from each other so you might also help someone else with the same question they may have. 2nd, always feel free to go through older posts. You never know when you might have a question answered there.
Looking forward to seeing your WIP and the day you say "I'm done". See you on the boards.
