I used white plasti-dip sprayed onto the entire sole. It's the stuff used to coat tool handles and whatnot, so its flexible and sticks to anything.
I'll post a pic of my shoe in progress later. It may not last on the bottom after a bunch of walking, but the sides should be ok. If not, I can always reapply it.
Any better pics of the back of the shin armor? I can probably zoom in on some of the pics from the other thread. That front has me thinking though.....I was going to use Sintra to make my calf armor, but I need to figure out how to mold that hourglass shape into them. I was originally going to cast a smooth piece and glue it on later, but I think it needs to be homogeneous.
On a side note, I bought a piece of this Sintra...it's very fascinating stuff especially compared to ABS. It gets soft at relatively low temperatures (150 degrees or so) and doesn't warp like hot ABS will. I just fear what might happen to it in a hot car or something.

Here's a pic of my 2 shoes. I am experimenting with the one so I know what to do with the other.

I'm using a gray paint for my shoes: i bought it in a shoe repair shop and it is intended for use on leather shoes, but it works just fine with the rubber of the sole. You brush it on the sole and wait 5 hours. It is great and won't come off, it's very elastic!

Shoe repair places are getting harder and harder to find over here. But thats a good idea too.

I know what it is! I know what it is! Size 10.5 please! Hey IanL, how did the plastic dip turn out? I've known about the stuff, just didn't know it came in a spray application. Have you walked around in them yet to see if it cracks?

Haven't walked around in it, need to do that
They have been sitting in my shed for a while so they are definitely subject to temperature extremes. Even if the bottoms wear off, I'd like to see the sidewalls remain white (-ish)

Look what I just aquired ! I have a very interesting project (we will all benefit from) waiting for these puppies once they arrive. What do you guys think of a set of rubber boots with a neoprene interior that has the proper sole and has rubber shin guards built into and on top of the proper boot ? Cast in white and tan for BARC's too ?The only thing stopping me from my little project was aquiring the shoes/boots with the proper sole - Well lookie here ----- whats on the way to my crib - This project is ON !
