Greetings everyone ..... Matt Hamilton here from Hubbard, OH. I've been a member of the Ohio Garrison boards for going on 3 years now. I recently joined here as I plan on joining the ranks of the Devil Dogs ... I already have a nearly complete TK, or TD, not sure just yet. I also have a near complete kit to do a Tusken Raider which I am selling to fund my GM.
I've already met a few of you thru PM's and look forward to meeting even more in person!!
Take care, Matt Hamilton

Greetings all. Perry Walker from Huntington, IN. Been knocking around different armors for awhile now and the GM has come out on top. It might be awhile before any progress posts get made because of the wealth of information on this site to go through. I want to make sure I get it right the first time. I do have the pepakura files for all the armor bits for the GM so mine will be all made from scratch. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and hope to meet some of you at a con in the future.

Thanks. One thing I have noticed is, there are very few GM's and this place seems to be the best resource I have found for info on them.

Yes this is probably your best bet. There's also a section over on CT.net and The Blizzard Force

Welcome to the 53rd Perry!.
I'm not sure if I should be welcoming the new members or introduce myself!. I've been disconnected for a while, but I'm hands on my GM again.
Perry, are you going to build your GM totally from pepakura?. What are you going to use for reinforcing and finishing? Fiberglass and bondo?. If so, feel free to ask anything since that's the way I'm building my GM (not pepakura but fiberglass and bondo). I've seen some of the pepakura parts for the GM and they may not be totally perfectly accurate, so my advice is for you to revise once and again each part of the armor with reference pics from the movie, official images obtained from ILM renders and so, not that much from figures or other costumes, etc.
Good luck and let us know if we can be of any help.

Thanks for the welcome. I plan on using fiberglass and bondo. I know my pep files may not be spot on, but if the basic shape is, I can add the detail I need. I do have a few reference pics, but on the look out for more.

Perry, I have just added two links to the 53rdfac.proboards.com/thread/105/general-costume-references thread with some hi-res pictures both of the 501st clone (CGI Render) and the BARC/Kashyyyk trooper. Also, in that thread you can find some of the best GM pictures available. Depending on the grade of detail you want to pursuit, it may be a difficult costume to build since there are very few good quality images of the GM and there are also discrepancies between the sources like figures (IMO the worst option to get references from), the CGI renders, and the movie. So always try to refer to the movie as the cannon and undisputed source, but since the GM presence there is just a few seconds and in a dusty/ashy and dark environment, those images may not be enough for reference for all parts. Your build approach would be similar to mine. I'm using styrene molds to an aproximate shape, then fiberglass for strength, and then bondo for finishing and to trim the real shape. Bondo is great to work with and allows you to correct a not-that-accurate shape. Good luck with your build!.

Don't forget Rondo, that also works extremely well and gives a nice even, smooth coat for finishing. Easy to work with and sands beautifully!
