Thanks. In the end it ends up being 7 or more layers of paint depending the piece. I then take the pieces and hit them with sand paper (various grits), drill bits, and various dremel attachments. After that I crush up charcoal and smear it on and rub it with a paper towel and my hands while wearing gloves.

Here's where I stand so far:
Chest & Back: add shims and adjust strapping Helmet: Finish paint, weathering, & fans Backpack: need to build, have pouches coming Shoulder Pauldrons: need to remake Shoulder Bells: Left_DONE Right needs trimming, painting, & weathering Bicep Armor: DONE Elbows: need straps installed Forearms: need trimming and finish assembly Handplates: trim, paint, and weather Belt & Boxes: need painting and weathering Kama: needs weathering Knees: new ones coming so they need paint and weathering Shins: trimming, paint, and weathering Toe armor: paint & weathering Boots: need covering
Some of this list has stuff that I am awaiting delivery on and others I just need to sit down and finish the little things.
I am really trying to give this a lot of thought as I build so that its as comfortable as I can get it. Things like adding 4 fans into the helmet. foam padding in the forearms, elbows, biceps, knees. Painting all the underside of the armor black to give it a uniform look. Then I try to weather each piece as I go and give that some thought as well.
I would probably be much further along, but we had a lot of rain here this week and I am also currently modifying my Tusken Raider with a new mask, arms & legs. I am also doing a Biker Scout build for my wife as well that I need to complete in the next 2 weeks.

Hey Leo, everything is coming along nicely except for your chest armor, which has way too much weathering on it. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk & I am honestly giving you some constructive criticism.

Managed to put in some work over the weekend. After some good crits by some members over at CT.net I am going to be repainting my helmet and handplates to tone the weathering on them. Check out my build album llink in my first post for updated pics.

Well its been a while since I last updated. Unfortunately real life got in the way for a while and forced me to halt assembly for a while. I am hoping to get back to working on my costume soon as we are planning a armor party for next month and I think we some serious work at it that I can really knock out most of what's left to be done.

No worries Ner Vod. I know exactly how bad life can get. best of luck and may the force be with you next month on your Armor party.

Wow, its been a while. Life really threw me a couple of curve balls since I last updated. I was working all the time plus fitting in my trooping. Then in December we had a snowstorm here in NJ and I shoveled out the walk and cars and played in the snow all day with my daughter Kaci. That night I went out to get my flag down and slipped on some ice and twisted my knee. Now, I have had prior problems with this knee and even had surgery on it in 2006. I took it easy that Sunday figuring that I just needed some rest and ice to take the swelling down. When I went into work on Monday my knee locked up and I couldn't event walk, so I went back to my doctor and well, I haven't worked since December 22.
Now here we are at the end of February and the specialist has tried, steroids, other injections, and physical therapy and it was a no-go. So now I am schedule to have surgery again on March 2nd which will result in 6 weeks on crutches and my knee in a brace with not being allowed to put any weight on it.
I am hoping that since I am going to be stuck I can at least get some sewing done on my undersuit and some little painting on my belt kit and such.
I will update more when I can.
I do plan on having my GM at CV though
