I've never thought about the Knee pads. They might work, though you are going to have be pretty creative as far as making them look screen acurate.

Is is just that the ridges don't extend over the entire piece or are the ridges themselves obviously inaccurate?
I usually have a good eye for what matches a screen-piece but the reference pics for this shoulder leave a little to be desired...

My right shoulder is made from the knee pads in the first link. I cut the bottom off of one and glued it on to the other to lengthen it. It came out more accurate than many attempts I have seen. But to each his own.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I may just go with it, it's only an $8 adventure. I'll see what happens.

Two difficulties with this. One, the knee pads are real soft so the paint cracks if it is touched. The other is that it is hard to fill the holes that the straps go through and to hide where you bonded the two pieces together.

Well, I saw some of these up close at Home Depot tonight. First, the ribbed area is too small, it doesn't cover the whole form. Second, I completely agree that the material will be very difficult to paint and that the strap holes can't be covered.
All in all seems like too much work, might as well scratch build.
Thanks everyone,
Phil
