I am finally getting off my fat lazy butt to work on my marine armor (especially since I have been here longer than anyone who is still posting on this site and have less progress than everyone). I got laid off in May, so it's not like I don't have the time. I will be posting updates and pics for comments and critiquing, so don't feel shy about that. This is my first armor build ever, so I will need the comments and advice here and there.
As of today, this is what I have (bought) and have done:
(Things DONE in red
Hard stuff (armor):
Helmet - El Zilcho (probably will do the batting helmet idea.
Chest - Sanded, painted (CLARET WINE!) and protected (matte clear coat). Pretty much done, unsure for now about weathering.
Back - Same as chest (sanded, painted, protected, no weathering at the moment).
Arms - Assembling in the next couple of days.
Knees - Sanded, painted (Krylon satin paint for plastic white)
Shins - ?
Toe - ?
Accessories - Painting Ammo blocks, have nice metal belt pieces (name?), have kama (GF), have leather for ammo block mounting
Soft stuff:
Undersuit - Dark grey pants with pockets in almost perfect positioning already (used to wear them to work when I worked for Jewel a couple years ago), looking for shirt/upper part.
Belt - Have leather for 2.5" belt. I actually have a cool idea for the belt (which I know will work since I have already done something almost exactly like it): I will be using a standard 1.25" leather belt blank (painted white or black probably) that will go through the standard belt loops on the pants, but they will have snaps on them which will snap to the regular marine belt (2.5") with the pouches and stuff. I will be making my own pouches out of leather and they will work (my wallet and stuff).
Gloves - I think I have the pair I want to use...Have to find them in my mess of a room.
Boots - Nada
Backpack - Nothing yet, although, toying with the idea of making it out of leather.
Weapons
-DC-15A - Woodchuck all wood rifle (breaks down for travel into 3 pieces)
-DC-15S - Polymer Armory DC-15S resin kit DONE
-DC-15s - Republic Commando Standard sidearm (need to start working on it)
-Blastech DL-44 (ESB version) - DONE (bought a kit from blast-tech.com (I think that's the spelling) and I don't know if I will use it for my GM costume, but it's cool anyways.
I will post pics as I finish things or just progress pics in general.
