From the comparitive picture, go with the one on the left. Is that the one that has the color on one side only? If it is, what you can do is layer the colored sides back to back and sew them together.

For my kama, I have what appears to be your one-sided option. Mine had a thin "cloth backing" to it like most vinyls do, and I just painted it with the spray paint I used on my armor. The paint soaks right in, and I haven't noticed any fading yet. I'd go with that. As for sewing two layers of it together back-to-back, vinyl gets heavy real quickly, so two layers on it will pull your kama down (I can barely keep mine up as it is!).

You know that I do leatherworking as a hobby. I am going to make my kama PERMANENT to my belt so as long as my belt is tight enough, that won't be a problem. Maybe I got some miracle vinyl, but my vinyl is VERY light weight.
