I have been wondering that as of late myself. I know that the Captain said the belt should be 2.5" (he said a 3" belt looked too big) so you could try to figure out what the pouches would be in relevence to the belt. If you would like directions on how to do this, PM me. Using cross-multiplication, I got REAL measurements for the clone wars cartoon ARC pistol using the dvd, a ruler and my own arm.

I do leatherworking as a hobby, and I have to say that I am probably going to go with the 2.5" belt. Have you ever seen a 3" belt in person? They are monstrous.

I'm 6'2" and I plan to make just a 2.5" belt. 3" is a bit much in my mind. As for the pouches on the belt I have no clue. So Shadow whatever you come up with let us all know.......

Anyways, for the pouches, it is just a very simple design that I came up with. It is the EXACT same pattern that I used for my Jedi pouches, just different dimensions. Here are two pics of those pouches (the first one is 3" X 5" and the square one is 3" X 3"): They are beefy, fully-functional pouches. The pattern is very simple (I can show a pic of it if some of you guys want it). I plan on making the marine pouches (just the 2 I believe) the exact same way (fully functional) so that at a con or troop, you could put your keys and or wallet in the pouch. And just so you guys also know, there is a way to do it, but there is no such thing as white leather dye. The trick (and I was told this by one of the Tandy Leather franchise owners) is to use a deglaser (tragacanth I think it is called) to take away the sheen/sealant layer from the belt, use spray paint, and then re-seal it after it is done. I will obviously be trying this for my armor, so I can let you guys know how it works when I get around to it. PM me if you guys have leather working questions. Ever. I may not be THE expert (not Ashton...) but I do know quite a bit about rough leather working.

Hey cooter I am going to tell you right now. I am only 5'8" and a 3" belt is just right. You are definately going to want a 3 inch belt. And to make the belt just take a peice of thick vinyl or double layer some vinyl and that will work just great. Don't spend 80 for a blank.

im 6' so i think it should turn out and i definately was planning on just doubling over some vinyl and maybe find someting to put in it for a little stiffness but who knows well just see what works

I need to make a new belt for myself since I've lost weight, but I'm gonna do it pretty much the same way as before. I actually tripled up the vinyl, and it's the perfect thickness. It's thick enough that it doesn't fold over it on itself or anything like that, but it's still very flexible - about as flexible as those nice double-thick leather belts.

I actually foudn this stuff on clearance at Hancocks that was the same kind of vinyl that they use for placemats and stuff and it worked ausome.
