Today I started working on my first set of knees. I say first because I've been around long enough to know you don't just do a piece of armor once, lol
Unfortunately, I hit a few snags today. I learned that the DVD software on my laptop won't take screen caps, and the DVD-Rom on my PC went crap. So, no screen caps. I got some pretty good dimension from the Visual Dictionary, though.
So, I worked up a rough set of measurements, cut out he foam board parts, and came to find out my roll of aluminum tape was missing. So, I'm at a standstill until tomorrow.
I'm not going to promise a timeline or anything, as this got started a bit on a whim and I have a few other projects going on. But, as I make updates I'll post them here! Once I get the base foam board knee together, I'll make sure to take some pics!

sounds like a fun project. How are you planning to give the knees more depth to make them stick out from your knee? I guess the volleyball pad method could work, but do you have any other ideas since these aren't going to have the same thickness as fg? Edit: This should eliminate the need to get your own screencaps. I think just about all the footage from the movie is in this account www.flickr.com/photos/18057107@N00/page2/Hope that helps you out

Thanks for the link!!
As for the depth, I am thinking just some regular chair pad foam should work. Since I'll be making the pants, I may heavily pad the knees of the pants directly.

Padding the knees beforehand would be a cool idea I think. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the knee plates so much, just finish and paint!
