Alright, I know that I am ordering one of youngling's right shoulder bells (the bell with the ridges), but I thought of something the other day and I am going to try to make one of my own design as well. I bought a 6" (WOW! BIG!) piece of 90 degree angle PVC and a 6" couple of PVC. BIG PIECES!!!! Anyways, what I am going to do is cut off the big ends (that taper bigger to fit pvc pieces into) of both pieces first. Then I am going to cut the straight coupler in half (length-wise) and cut the 90 degree angle piece in half along the seam. Then I will glue and epoxy the two pieces together and bondo the crap out of it. I think it will look good, but don't worry if the confusion grasps you, I will post some pics of the pieces and the cuts I will be making in a day or so (hopefully tomorrow night)
Also, if anyone has any ideas for the ridges I would be most appreciative.

cut the ridges out of some scrap plastic (abs, sintra, hips, whatever) and just bend them to fit the contour of the bell

Yeah I was thinking plastic, but I think some sort of tubing might be better. I want those ridges to be damn perfect, you know?

tubing might make it a little complicated because then you'd have to make sure they retained their shape (very hard depending on what you use) and you'd also have to do some very delicate bondo work. Some sort of clay might also do the trick if you know how to work with it. I don't so I'm not going to attempt it lol

That's my point though. The pipe or tubing might be difficult to work with, but once you get it it will look right. I am kind of a perfectionist and wood filler or clay where I have to shape it probably won't cut it for me.

Try this Shadow. Get some Trimmer line for a string trimmer it comes in different gauges and colors it bends easy glue it on there as the ridges and then BONDO them. I hope this helps.

I will have to try that. I am still a way's away from that step though. I just cut out one of the two pvc pieces today. the curved piece (90) turned out ok, but I got about a third of the way done with the straight piece and everytime the dremel cutter wheel would even touch the pvc the pvc would melt and turn to plastic goo. then the pvc goo would eat and cut the blades. I went through like 14 blades today and bent the shaft of the dremel. Need a new shaft and more blades. damn. But other than that, it's turning out ok so far.

Show us some pics. Also if you try the trimmer line method tell me if it works. If it does I will include that in the right shoulder bell kit.

I have some untrimmed pics and I will take a pic or two of the one piece that is trimmed just so you can see where I am going with this bell.

Hmm interesting. How are you gonna smooth that out? That is gonna take a lot of BONDO.

Looks a bit massive to me, but I don't really have a good point of reference to go from. Like Preston said, that's going to take a lot of bondo. You're a braver man than I am lol

It shouldn't be too bad. It's not that big, I just have fairly small hands. I have finished cutting them out. And yes, it probably will need a butt-load of bondo (which I suck at doing), but I think it will turn out at least tolerable. It does kind of look big in the pics, but when I put it on my shoulder, it barely fits.

This is turning out to be most interesting. You guys are smart as hell at this prop bulding thing I suck at building but I can paint and assemble good lol. I am going to keep an eye on this thread I want to see how this turns out should be great.
