I've started on my first official upgrade for my GM (and subsequently for the Captain Ferin suit). I've upgraded from my make-shift GM chest to a mrlaws chest plate, and I've decided not to used my old chest greeblies. I've made completely new, and far more accurate than the old ones (as accurate as the blurry pics would grant me). As you can see, the mrlaws chest is considerably smaller than my old one. It won't require any mods to fit me, but I will end up wanting a smaller backplate (JM back, perhaps) to mate with it. Though I'm not using the old chest greeblies, I am using the old strap. There is only one thing I need to upgrade on the strap, and that's the misc box. It need's be considerably thinner, more like a strap keeper or something like that. Because it's a smaller chest, the neck is kind of low on me. However, I did some sizing tests, and it will work out just fine because the cowl hides it with a few inches to spare. As I said earlier, the chest greeblies have been completely scratch built, according to blown up reference images and "educated guesses" that allowed me to create details that could not be seen but best fit with the design of the GM. I will be making resin castings of these chest greeblies since they are designed with the mrlaws chest in mind.

Hey Captain, that new chest looks FRIGGIN' AWESOME (in voice of Carl from ATHF)... Also loving the new chest greeblies...You said that you would be making resin cast chest greeblies (sometime in the future)...Not to sound like a hovering vulture, but would you possibly be willing to make a few extras of those for some of us (maybe) ... I just bought (from Michaels craft store) some little wooden disks to use for the bottom right greeblie, but I am not sure how to make the oblong shaped one...I was considering taking one of the round ones, cutting it in half and gluing a square piece between the two halves, but I don't know if it will look right...I also wish that I had my armor kit already (standard TC) because I am going to use the backplate and the arm assemblies (not the shoulder bells) from that for my GM...I really want to paint my GM parts... Also can't wait to see your chest plate painted and with the greeblies totally finished...post some pics when you do...I am going to compare your old one to your new one...It will be interesting to see...

Since these are small greeblies, I actually just want to make some up for the whole group, at no cost to the active members here at this forum. I won't force them on your guys if you don't want them, but I'll have them available to those that want them.

One thing I just noticed CF...Not to say that your scratchbuilt GM chest looked bad, because I am not saying that, but there is something about Laws chestplate...It makes you look thinner than your old one does...I hope mine makes ME look thinner

The thing about the mr laws chest is that it IS thinner. It's about 10% smaller in all areas, and it's actually not as flattering on me as my old one! LOL! It's a reminder that I need to lose weight. I'm not going to get skinny since I have a rather medium-sized frame, but I need to lose this gut. I'm hoping to lose this weight by the time Ferin is finished, because I'm only going to be using this GM chest from now on.
The chest greeblies will be my gift to the forum members, so no shipping fees will be requested.

WOW Captain those chest greeblies look incredible. I would be interested in a set and all I can say is that you are a saint I was just going ask how much they were. Free isn't a half bad price . One thing I just noticed CF...Not to say that your scratchbuilt GM chest looked bad, because I am not saying that, but there is something about Laws chestplate...It makes you look thinner than your old one does...I hope mine makes ME look thinner I actually hope mine makes me look bigger than I am. If it makes me look thinner than I am then I will be just armor no soldier.

Mike, I appreciate the offer. Me offering these greeblies for free came directly out of our last phone discussion. Something you said about the community being here for everyone to gain from (instead of being exclusive among friends), just made me want to do something nice. And since the members of this forum are such awesome people because of their interest in the Galactic Marines and their support of the forum, I figured I'd give back.

that's really nice to see/hear...I have been thinking about that for a few weeks now...Don't get me wrong here, ct.net has some GREAT info and most of the people over there are very cool/interesting people, but, to be honest, I PREFER to be over here...EVERYONE here is great and honest and it DOES feel more like everybody knows each other...But, really, one of the biggest things here is that everyone WANTS to be here...It's not just a gathering of SW fans, it is people who want to make and perfect the GM costume...And, we sometimes get off track or off topic but we always come back to the point...Again, don't get me wrong here, I LOVE SW and I could (seriously) talk with someone about SW ALL DAY and not get bored, but I could do that MANY other places as well...When I come here, I want to discuss GM's...If I wanted to talk just SW in general I would join something for that...so, anyways, sorry for the LONG ASS rant, but yeah...Keep up the good work...
