Quick queston about the shins. Am I right in assuming that I'll only need one mold for each calf and shin halves? Or in other words, from what I can see, there appears to be no difference in left and right shins, so they're symmetrical, right? I'm pretty sure they're symmetrical, but I'd like a second opinion.
Also, it looks like the center ridge kinda fades into the rest of the shin towards the top, so the ridge becomes less severe towards the top than the rest of it.

I'm not sure about the fading towards the top since I haven't studied the shins too much, but yes, I think that they are symmetrical.

Awesome, that makes it much easier for me. I'll be starting on all my GM molds this week, and if I can find a got-dang batting helmet without those stupid aerodynamic holes in the top, I'll be starting on my helmet too.

The ridge gets wider as it nears the top, but I don't think it fades into it. The ridge starts getting wider toward the midpoint, and is almost twice as wide at the top than it is at the bottom.

mine are symmetrical, and i'm pretty sure they are symmetrical from the references i have.

Yeah they're pretty much symmetrical. The ONLY L/R difference is the location of the buckles on the straps. The wider buckles are toward the outside of the calves, and the thin buckle (slider?) is on the inside of the calves.
Believe it or not, use the GM figure for reference here. Perhaps not for detail, but rather for the general look of it.

I did some sculpting on the shins. They are going to wrapped in vinyl so I dont have to get 100% smooth.

Is the purpose for wrapping them in vinyl to make it so that you don't have to make them 100% smooth, or is there something else. I could certainly understand if that were the reason, making bondo smooth over large surfaces is such a pita

I'm planning on doing the same with my shin armor. I want the texture of the boots and shins to match.
