Hello marines, it's my time to show how my helmet is coming along. I started the project in february, using a softair 2ndWW era helmet replica and an expanded PVC plastic called Forex (the same material i'm using for my armor, we talked about it in CT.net). I based my design on SGB measurements, but it came out pretty smaller and with a rounded dome instead of a more accurate squared-like one. I like it very much though, it is similar to the Cold Clones from the comics. I'm very satisfied with the angle of the side and neck plate, which is the only thing i don't like in SGB. About the mask, i'm making it removeable and it's turning out very well (i made it before SGB made his modifications and i'm glad i did it just the same way SGB is making his new one) Pictures: P.S.: sorry SGB if i'm always talking about you, but since you set the standard it is helpful to use your work as a comparison, thank you!

I really like it, especially your work on the face. That just gave me a couple ideas on how to do mine, thanks!

Yes! More scratch builds! I'm loving it! This is what the 53rd is all about. I'm familiar with Forex. From what I understand, it's the European version of Sintra, which is slightly-foamed sheet PVC. Great stuff to work with.
I'm wanting to try my own scratch build now! You know, soon, people wanting to be GMs will have three options: SGB v2, youngling, and scratch building!
Hoorah for scratch building. If you can't tell, I'm all about scratch building.

I really like what you got going on with the face plate!!! Very interesting and would be very helpful when applying the white shroud on that particular area.
Very nice work !

i'll post more pictures of the helmet when it will be sanded and primed. Captain, i'm not sure if sintra and forex are the same thing, forex is very very soft, it can be cut with scissors and if you press with your nail the sign will remain on it. If you take a closer look you can spot many airbubbles in it, that's why it is also very light. SCRTACHBUILDING FOREVER!!!

Awesome. I have been wanting to do a scratchbuild for awhile, and with all these ideas and inspiration I might just have to do one now!

I'm not sure if sintra can be cut with scissors (maybe a big sturdy pair), but it is relatively soft and if you press it with your thumb the indent will stay there. I was wondering if you have tried putting your cowl on the nose. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like vinyl (or whatever) would have a hard time conforming to that shape. That's the only reason I'm hesitant to attempt a really accurate face plate

Very intersting! It looks like a great scratchbuilt item. I noticed that you made it more vader like in the back.

It's SUPPOSED to be more like Vader's in the back. I like it.
