Thanks Shadoweclipse for the comparisons!! I'll still probably do some swatch tests of my own. I don't know if you want any personal opinions posted here, so I won't post anything on that. Both of those colors do look nice, and it's good having these options just in case one brand isn't available in someone's area.

Well, so far I'm a little more partial to the Krylon Burgandy still. I'm just wondering if maybe a first coat of black under the Burgandy will darken it down some, so it won't look so pink under a camera flash. Plus the weathering should darken it down some. I want to check out Rust-Oleum Burgandy, as Captain said it had a bit more purple to it, and from looking at reference pics, the armor does appear to have a purple tint to it.

Like I said I am no professional photographer...It DOES NOT look pinkish in person, trust me...It was a problem with the lighting...I took the pics around 10 pm and the only light that would actually show them as a red (instead of REALLY dark colors) was my room, but my fluorescent lights are so damn bright, it was very glary...Also, like I said the rust-oleum claret wine was not a satiny as I would like, just a little closer to glossy than the burgundy...But believe me it wouldn't need darkening...Sorry if the pics aren't that great and sort of confuse people, but if you would like, I can send you a small sample of each so you can see them in person...I could mail them out monday morning...

If that's not too much trouble, I'd love a sample of each! I'll PM you my address now...
I did notice the Claret Wine did look a bit glossy for being a satin, but I wouldn't think that would be a problem a shot of dullcoat couldn't solve.

you mean to say that someone actually makes something to de-gloss paint? Who makes it? I am going to get some of that...That is really awesome to know, since JUST because of the glossy-ness of the claret wine I was going to paint my armor with the burgundy...now I have a decision to make...

Yup, there should be a flat finish clearcoat used to protect paint. It should dull it down some. It usually comes with a dull, clear cap on it. I'm pretty sure some Fett-painters have used it to dull down any gloss paint or dull the silver down.

do you know what company makes it?

Dull coat isn't a company-specific paint. Pretty much everyone makes it. It's just a clear coat with a matte finish.

Hmm, that I don't know. It should be in with the spray paints. Just look for something with a clear cap, and says something like "clearcoat protective finish" or something like that. There should be a flat finish version of it.
Edit: Yep, Captains correct. Rust-Oleum should make it too, then there's no risk of it reacting with the Claret Wine paint since it's made by the same company.

I just recieved the paintsamples from Shadoweclipse, and I have to say, after seeing the Krylon Burgandy and Rust-Oleum Claret Wine together in person, I'm leaning more towards the Claret Wine. It's a bit darker, and to my surprise, actually matches my vinyl better! The only problem with it is the slight shine it has to it.
Before I commit to a color, I want to check out the Rust-Oleum Burgandy compared to the other two.

I'll have to pick up a can of that and test it on the paint. Thanks for the heads up!
