Preamble and Statement.

Thank you for the privilage folks! After not having Internet Service in my home in over 5 years, I am now reporting to you from Command Headquarters, staring down my P90X workout regiment, and totally ecstatic about the level of confidence you have all put in me.

I aint’ gonna get all mushy on anybody here, rather, to begin discussing how we can catapult this place into a Premier Destination for Galactic Marine costuming. Please be advised at this time I am beginning to submit my Commander Bacara V1 to the Legion post-haste, and I hope to have a numbered designation within a few weeks.

But first, a few things here, and I don’t want people to be offended. And, if you do get offended at anytime forthwith during my tenure, speak your mind openly, we are people who deserve respect as human beings first, and Galactic Marine costume experts second. I will expect everyone here to respect one another, as to maintain our integrity. In short, let’s lead by example to further the 501st stellar, charity per se, image within the public realm.

No flaming. If you disrespect someone within the public forum at large, over robust and civilized debate; I will motion for a tribunal, and the matter will be resolved here with the ultimate goal of saving the Legion from any hassle over violations and issues. The Commanders on the Legion level have important responsibilities, not limited to growing costuming awareness, and provide trooping opportunities in 501st Regional Territories, as dictated by Lucasfilm and the Legion.

Newbies: DON’T PISS ON THEM. You will lose your privileges’ permanently. Give the guy or gal a tour, encourage them, and help them.

Next, looking at the volume of most of the posters here, which is all 8 of you, I will like to give all regular posters an opportunity to perform a function. We need to discuss a Command Staff, in addition to possibly an artistic chain of command, for possible category moderation assignments, i.e., Boots, Armor, Backpack, Helmet, etc.

In trade, I will provide precise command decisions as, I will also like to Chair the 53rd Fast Attack Treasury, as to devise a financial plan to raise money, so we can maximize the image and technology available to make this a Premier Destination. To be put this way, a place a random fan could stumble upon, and be thoroughly blown away, to be so inspired to join our ranks and participate in one of the most rewarding hobbies in the world, Star Wars costuming and charity.

I like to extend to Torso-Boy a heartfelt thank you for building this site. It was a no brainer, and your level of leadership and artistry has been an exemplary, as you have clearly set the standard, for the 501st Legion worldwide, and future Galactic Marines.

Let’s have fun, lets be cool, level headed and help one another out, and not only grow the Red Galactic Marines and also,
Galactic Cold Assault Marines (these guys will be canon)

I have one thought already about (eventual) change. Something simple, for now. I would like to somehow get the main 53rd page to be something simpler than the huge internet address it is now. I can put in clonetroopers.net (which is easy and short enough to remember) and get there without problems. But, if say, I go on vacation and want to say something here, I always have to go to ct.net and find the LINK to here. I don't know if it's possible to do, but it's something to think about. I know it might be awhile away. Plus, as a bonus, if we did change the address to something simpler, it would be A LOT easier for someone researching GM's to just stumble on the site, if the site had a more generic address.

Wonderful speech Commander! Helmets off to Voltaire for stepping up and taking charge right off the bat.

I'd also like to thank everyone here for the wonderful support you guys have lent me over the past year or so of our existence. We couldn't have made it here without you guys. I'm just glad I inspired so many GM projects, and those projects have inspired other GM projects.

Also, helmets off to Q for the CTN link. That's a big step for us here, and we should recognize and thank him for the CTN link. Hopefully that will generate more traffic and help boost active membership!

And helmets off one last time for the rest of the First Command Staff! Shadoweclipse and Anrev, we will all look toward you and Voltaire for leading us into the future of this GM Costuming web resource.

It was Torso_boys GM costume that had me hooked on building a GM from the first time I saw it I said to myself "I must build one like that" TB you did an awesome job.

although I'm new I look forward to contributing to the site and so far am impressed with the warm welcomes and input from the troops. It's a refreshing change to see since so many forums concentrate more on flaming others and childish bantering. Well done guys! Command staff, If I can assist in any way please let me know

Folks, first and foremost I want to thank each and every one of you for your responses and enthusiasm to this thread.

A few days ago, I sent Torso, Anrev and Shadow PMs' with regard to rescinding my position as CO.

This decision was not reflective of anybody here, rather a personal decision due to the fact my real life commitments are going to compound over the next few years. With my moderation duties on the main board and, my personal decision to no longer work on costumes, I had felt it appropriate to step aside. In short, I have other aspects in my life that I need to make progress on. I am full swing in developing a business plan to build my own, brick and mortar Comic Book Shop and Sci-Fi museum, and my focus is going to shift in that direction. It’s my childhood dream.

Though, I have now decided if you all are still confident in my leadership abilities, to stay aboard, and proceed in a minimal fashion. I have been sick with a bad cold virus since last Sunday night, and I have been essentially medicated all week. Of course, when you are sitting around all day, you begin to think to hard, and sometimes a rash decision will result LOL.

With that being said, I also want to clear the air on this Preamble and Statement, as I will admit it was a little too serious. This is just a hobby and creative past time. I am a leader by nature, having commanded my very own ROTC unit in High School. Instead of going into the service like the rest of my Command Staff, I stayed behind to be a lead singer in a rock band. I would have been in the Persian Gulf War if had enlisted. I also run a small real estate corporation, and I am pushing 40 years old. I am somewhat embarrassed by this preamble and statement, and please realize it’s just my nature from a leadership perspective.

One aspect of this statement that bothers me the most is the term “Artistic Chain of Command”. It was inappropriate terminology. Art is a creative, individualistic release, where only the creator is the arbiter of what THEY consider to be good, satisfactory etc. My underlying intent in that statement was to basically assign the best people for the various parts and aspects of the GM costume, on a moderation level. Though, I did not sell that idea properly. I apologize if have offended anybody in that regard. What is important here is to keep this all good hearted and fun, and to help people and encourage people to their best, and support them on any level, as a community. And, to be sure that folks are doing it right, as per the 501st guidelines, if that is there ultimate goal.

So, here is the deal. I will not be able to come here all the time. I will do my best outside of my real world responsibilities to lead the moderation of this board, and I can not guarantee that I will be here effectively to handle everything that can arise. Though I will do my very best to help all you, and any new prospective members. Part of my personal goals this year is to get more real with my life, and I do intend to gravitate away from the internet at large, as I am burned out so to speak.
