Been working on my shin armor, got them assembled and to the sanding point. Looking to see what people used for the shin strapping and the buckles? Are these materials that I could find in a craft store? Looks like the straps are just nylon, not sure on the buckles source. I was dirrected to Mr. Bungles for boot armor, other sources out there?
Thank you, Dan

Just about to start shins myself, For shin strapping im going for WHITE WEBBING CANVAS BELT . I agree the buckle Greeble is hard to find . I was thinking of recreating my own with two ideas Sport bottle lid cut vertically in half with a small dowel for top and bottom Or find a multi purpose Screwdriver the one with adjustable bit shaft using this again with a small dowel for top and bottom Make a mold and cast on the inside use Triglides On a note im having a hard time Fitting front and back shin together as they are not flat could you tell me how you do it . Maybe someone could make some tutorials for the site

I started with a pair of shins from Redkraytdragon. First I taped the two halves together for a test fit to make sure that I could easily fit my leg into the shins with pants on and that it would sit where I wanted it to. I then marked where I would cut the first shin piece so that the seem line will be centered on my leg. I then taped the two pieces back together with the front piece overlapping the back half. I marked the back half along where I cut the front piece so that the two halves would match up. I then used a metal ruler and a Xacto to score the back half and gently snapped the excess off. I trimmed the excess material that I have just cut off the back shin piece and used them as my backing strip. I trimmed the strips down to about 1" the natural curves that where in the strips already made them fit very well as backing strips. I glued 1/2" of the backing strip to the front shins on both sides. When the glue was dry I then glued one side of the back half on, making sure the glue was set I then glued the other side on. I was pretty happy with the end results. Both shins slips on easily and the seams sit in the middle of my leg. I then used Bondo to cover the seems and sanded them smooth giving it a seamless look. The reason I wanted the seems to be centered on my leg was to make sure that the shins had a symmetrical look on my leg and not have one shin not be identical to the other. Went a little heavy on the Bondo... Hope this helps.

Looking closer at the straps and buckles. They are backpack slides. So I will be using white nylon strapping with backpack slides and what looks to be a catch for the excess strap on the the inside part of the leg. Now to figure out the boot armor... What do you all think?

I used the rubber ones that were provided by Mr. Bungle, who I bought my kit from.

Dan II, in this pic you can see both the strap texture and the buckles shapes and sizes.

So finally got in touch with Tom (Mr.bungle) apparently his molds for the shins and boot armor went over to Kwdesigns. So contacting KW to see about acquiring parts. Not sure if folks knew about the molds being moved there.

Yes I was aware of that. Apparently SWbikerchick is also making parts based off his molds??

to clarify - MB stuff is over at KWD/OSCS and wont be ready till the new year.
SW biker chick is in possession of the older pghfett molds and is supposed to be converting em to vac formed bucks. No ETA on production.
I keep track of these as a mod on BSN for Kashyyyk troopers

Thanks for clarifying Nate. I was reading those threads too, but wasn't sure if those two people were associated with each other or not, lol.
