Hey CF, How did you actually attach the ammo boxes to your chest ammo strap?

Since my bricks are wood, I just screwed it to the belt with a short wood screw. It would also help to dab a little Shoe Goo in between them, but if there is a slim chance of you transfering your bricks to a new belt, I'd just go with a plain old screw.
*Note, I might also be making resin castings of my bricks, if anyone is interested, though they are kind of rough.

well, I have some of evo3's ammo boxes (resin I think) and I will using leather for the strap itself...Any thoughts there? I wouldn't like to use screws simply for the fact that (1) I will be using plastic clips (3-pronged thingys) so the belt is not PERMANENTLY attached and (2) I don't want the screws to scratch the chest plate...What would you do in that position?

I wonder if it's possible to use some kind of covertech technique to attach the boxes to the strap, so they are actually removable? For those who don't know, Covertech clips are phone/pager clips where a small knob is fastened onto whatever you're attaching, and a matching slot clip is attached to whatever the phone/pager is attached to. They were used in the Prequel movies to attach lightsabers to belts. Not sure if covertech clips themselves would work, since they are made to swivel, but maybe using that technique.

I actually took the scratching into consideration. You can simply avoid that by, once they are screwed to the belt, covering the screw heads with a strip of electical tape. But if your belt is on there tight enough, it won't move enough to allow the screw heads to scratch your paint anyways. But the electrical tape cover is a good backup anyways.

that's a good idea...I have so many different options/things to consider...It's kind of nice to have time to think about things and figure out where I want to go, but at the same time, I also just want to be able to work on and eventually wear my GM armor...

You can also get some black felt with adhesive backing (on one side). Attach the felt over the screws and run it the entire length of the belt for a nice quite and smooth fit.

most resins holds screws just as well as wood or any other soild materials. Should be fine.

Please forgive me if this has already been asked/answered, but is there a standard width for the strap on the chest plate?

I believe that Torso Boy once told me 1.25"

that sounds like a good size, but really it should be determined by that size of your chest plate and the size of your ammo boxes. It's all about proportion because you wouldn't want to get small ammo boxes and make them look even smaller by using an ammo strap that's not sized correctly, and on the flip side bigger ammo boxes would require a larger strip. 1.25" sounds like it would be generally a good width to me, just make sure your ammo boxes look good on it
