i was doing a little research tonight, and i figured out how ot make a primitive vacum form press out of some wood and other household appliances, this could help greatly in what im attempting to do with chest and back armor, also with some of the smaller pieces im attempting to make such as the gauntlets and upper arms. im actually experimenting with some spackle and pepakura to see if spackle will work like bondo. im not sure how long it would take to build this vacum form, but i think it would save me money and time that id be spending on resining armor. i saw it on youtube at this link, www.youtube.com/watch?v=maH5Ech0wK8give me your responses on what y'all think.

Vacum former can be build relatively easy. A guy here built his with relative easiness, with standard home appliances, and without spending much money.
But in your case, my advise would be that before building the former, I'd try to build at least a few molds to see how they come out and if they worth building the former. I believe the molds are what will take you the most time and effort.

ok, i was going to build the former at some point this summer anyways, but i really like how my chest looks, and i would love to be able to mold it, ive been looking at a lot of reference pictures, and a lot of the stuff ive bult it pretty close to some screen shots. ill be multi tasking making the pieces while i make the vacuum former.

i actually found shoes my size today. they were a pair of waterproof fishing boots, and i thought they almost looked like the boots the GM wears, my only problem is im not sure the part coming up on the boot is long enough, i'd like some advice based on what you think? oh and dont worry thats just ice on the other foot

Your boot is long enough for sure. The shin armour should come to that line that is visible at your ankle, give or take a centimeter.

I'm not sure about the sole. I can't see yours clearly, but ideally it should be a thicker sole, with 4 notches in the front and 3 in the talon, and a big arc in between. The right shoes/boots are the Keneth Cole Pit Crew, the Bufalino Sentinel, some Prada boot (I don't remember the model). Those are the most similar to Jango's boots, which is established as being the boot for the GM as well as other clones. If you explore the threads, you'll see many findings that in some cases, are good alternatives for the GM, but if your goal is to get approved, I'm not sure about the sole of the ones you've got.
Also, the boot and armor should be white, while the sole is tan or greyish tan.

here is the sole of the boot like you asked. i could make the soles large with some foam, and cover up the seams with the armor part that goes on top, and cut the notches in the sole.

Sorry, if I wasn't clear enough. I was referring to the sides of the sole. Here is what the sole should look like: "

do you think i could edit the boots i have to look like those? the soles and the large indent in the middle seem to be the only diffrence other than parts of armor to go around it. maybe with some matting or maybe a dremel tool i could fix it?

I don't think you could make it work spartan...the boots you have aren't thick enough in the soles to make them look like any of the ones pictured above for 501st approval. Honestly, it's more time and work than what it would be worth to try to mod those boots for approval...but that's just me Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying "don't try it" but I'm just trying to steer you in the right direction ...you'd be better off replacing the entire sole and if you're going to go that far with it you might as well just buy the knockoff boots. I think Barry (banzai88) posted a link to some eBay sales not too long ago that had them in different colors and sizes. I personally was only able to buy some yellow ones but I'm going to be dyeing them white, much easier that road I think. They're called Buffalino Sentinals (as Tangofett mentioned above). Do a search, you just might get a good deal. Good luck either way with whatever you decide

i saw the amt of the boots, used on ebay and it was like 80 some dollars, also i dont think they come in size 15 so ill try and improvise. . i found some foam at home depot, and im going to layer it up and sculpt it into the chest piece. its 1" X 8' X 4' so i may be able to get the front and the back of the armor made.

I think so Dan. Spartanbula, I would avoid those rubber boots. I do not think the will pass approval even with a lot of work. Trust guys that have been through this, spend the $80 (cheap for accurate costume boots) and avoid the trouble and headache. Or the Walmart boots Dan mentions are ok and will pass with some work.
