Gday all!!! I have finally managed to start getting going on my GM. I have most of the hard armour, just the chest/back to go (thanks boba ) and sources for most of the rest, still struggling on coveralls and boots. Im at the point of: Helmet (HS - its awesome) cleaned out and sanded. Backpack - mostly done. Forearms/biceps/shins - will be trying to shim and fill for the seamless look in the next week or so. Anyway, a few questions. I got a steelblitz set, just wondering if anyone has pics (or can explain) how/where 1. the small square shaped pieces with the bit on the end (in middle of pic below) - im sure they are for the knees/elbow - go together By danholliday at 2012-01-09 2. The 2 pieces with the flared ends - for the backpack. By danholliday at 2012-01-09 If anyone can let me know how they go together/got a pic etc id really appreciate it, more to follow. Dan

1) they are for the knees, they stick out of the knee shelles where the stap comes in at on either end.
2) They are for the back pack to fill the void between the back pack and the backplate on either side.

Like you, I got the same SB pieces. Dan's covered 1). As for 2) I could not get them to make sense as they just didn't fit anywhere logically. In the end, I chucked them and added new sides to the backpack out of HIPS, thus doing what these pieces were, I suspect, intended to do. My guess is that the back armour I had was shaped differently then the one Frank used during his sculpt/build. My build 53rdfac.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=welcomeaboardidcheckhere&thread=678&page=2#9331 with the backpack on page 2. Welcome and have fun.

Berzerker is right about those parts, I looked at how they were to be placed with the instructions from SB and I just chucked them as well. with my DL backplate and the way the backpack fits up to it, I felt that they were not necessary. See how the pack fits to the backplate, Doc do you have a DL backplate also?

Thanks for that guys, yeah i might just see how i go. Dan - yeah i have a UKBoba chest/back (so yes a DL as he has the moulds now) just arrived so ill play around with it. Anyway have managed to get at it a bit done, completed the belt. Its a SB kit but i covered the foam pieces with some cheap fabric to give it a bit more of a look and obviously it needs to be weathered. By danholliday at 2012-01-22 Backpack is done - up to being painted then finish the rest. By danholliday at 2012-01-22 Have also covered the packpack pouches with fabric and will probably secure with magnets. Now im doing all the hard armour, have to extend the chest/back and reduce the pauldrons, so will hopefully have them and the rest all done, sanded and seamless in a week or so. Have some coveralls on the way, jedifran is onto my kama and a woodchuck DC-15 is in the mail, so things are looking up!!!

I probably can as ive put magnets at the bottom of the belt to hold them on, so if a little high can just change them, thanks mate!

How did you attach your pouches to the belt?

I made some straps out of some spare nylon i had and tacked and glued them to the back of the pouches, so that way the pouches are moveable as i have velcro to connect the belt together and the right pouch covers the join. My kama is done so ill velcro the inside of the belt for the kama to attach to it.

Cool, I did almost the same with some left over parts of a leather belt I used to hang my ammo pouches on my arm and armor with. I did the join almost the same but with a metal clip and then I cover the clip with the pouch as well. When I sewed my kama, I made it so that I could run a belt in it, so I put it on first with its own belt, and then the belt over it.

A bit more progress: HS lid cleaned out Steelblitz parts for shoulder armour, straps and greebs Overalls - grey overalls shouldnt be hard to find - but they are here!!! Need to get the sleeves removed and pockets made for thighs. It mightnt show but the grey is a good steel grey type colour Kama by JediFran - and undershirt Chest/Back - UKboba which are DL moulds - with backpack Upper body armour - joined and bondo'ed - the shoulder pauldrons were too big so resized Boot/knee and shin armour bondo'ed Now the good stuff - DC-15L by the Woodchuck - This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine . . . ;D So have managed to get everything to a point where i can start painting, which will happen in the next few weeks - i hope - in between troops here in Oz, while i get some of the soft parts altered. Then lid and armour assembly as my Jango/GM boots arrival from crowe62 Cheers - as usual any pointers will happily take them Doc

Gday all, Managed to do a little painting and weathering in the lead up to our biggest troop here in Australia at Dreamworld, so was preoccupied with that, but heres a bit more of the progress. Still awaiting my boots . . . I still need to knock off a little more of the shine of the paint and do a bit more weathering work but am pretty happy with the way its panning out atm . . . Next major step is to attach everything to everything. As per usual, if you see anything dodgy please critique!!! Helmet - cowl and lenses still to do and a bit more clean up on the weathering etc. Chest/Back - made a template for the back design. Need to attach the backpak to the back plate and the ammo strap to the chest. Backpack - just to weather the pouches and attach to backplate. Magnets are holding the patches to the pack. Body armour - strapping etc to be done. Shin armour - just want to clean up a bit more, wish i had the same type of strapping for all of it. Woodchuck weapon, one of our other clones wanted it so did a quick paint job on it. Just getting the soft items modified and need a hand with strapping/connecting etc so some of my garrison mates will hopefully help out, hopefully will be finished before i head off to C6!!!
