Greetings! First off I just want to say hello to all! A bit about myself. I am a United States Marine of 14 years who is on disability due to the Gulf War. I have always been a big Star Wars fan and since going on disability have really started to do some collecting. Since buying the Star Wars Blu-Ray discs and seeing the Rose Bowl Parade that the 501st was in, I really started thinking about making a Galactic Marine Costume. The thing is, I have no idea whatsoever how to even begin making it. Molding pieces, doing all of that. Any help you can provide would be helpful. Thanks, and I appreciate the chance to be a part of the 53rd FAC. Semper Fidelis...

Welcome Marine! This is a great costume, but challenging. It is very dificult to take something that never actually existed in real life and was only seen for a few seconds on a dark snowy battlefield and make it real. It has gotten easier though, as more folks have stepped up and started making more parts for it. Much different now than when I started. The best advise I can give is to hang out, ask questions, and get to know the few of us who have made it into the 501st, at 21 total now I think. A quite exclusive group.

I was pretty much the same when I joined the 53rd back in 2008 with a liking of the Galactic Marine armor but no knowledge of it (even though I've been aware of this message board for about a year before joining). As ToyHunter80's has posted above...It's one of the most challenging builds but also one of the most rewarding builds as well. There may be a few (no pun intended) here with finished builds but we all learn form each other improving the look of the GM since we briefly saw it in Ep III for about 7 seconds. There is lots of awesome knowledge here in the older posts, and all the guys and girls here are excellent people to talk with so don't be afraid to pick their Brains. We learn a lot from each other. Feel free to check out different WIPs and see if that helps you. Also, thank you for your 14 years of Service, brother! Semper Fidelis. OOH-RAH! -Cpl RamZ, USMC

Welcome Devil Dog, I will concer with my fellow troopers, this is an awesome costume, and I found putting it together to be the biggest challenge that I have had with my 501st attire!! But it was fun and was a great experance doing it. Several members of the 53rd have the contacts and the know how to get it done. All of us are here to help, so talk with us, let me know if you have any questions!!!!

Welcome to the party mate. Sorry to hear of your injury but glad to see you've joined us here. You'll love putting on the maroon. Makes clankers rust and chicks swoon. At this stage you can source the various parts you need from guys on this forum. Any advice you need, just ask.
