Update: Chrome coat: First Clariet coat: I've also started on my arm armor. I'll post those up soon.

Kylar. Just curious. Does the Chrome paint also serve as a Primer coat? The claret wine color is looking nice. Make sure the beak area is Gray, since there is a small gap that shows above the cowl once you place it on the helmet.
I can't wait to see how the rest of your armor looks. Also, I was curious if you are building 2 GMs or if you're going to make the Helmet in the background a display piece?

No, I actually have a Primer coat under the chrome. It is Primer- Chrome - Clarinet.
I have certain areas that I will lightly remove the Clarinet from to show the battle damage and create a sort of wear on the armor.
Myself, and a couple garrison guys are building GM's together. So expect a few more even though I'm the only wip you'll probably see.

Looking good mate. The chrome looks great on it's own. Are you going to mask off areas for battle damage or scratch off the top layer?

AFAIK chrome does not show through on clone gear with the exception of Kashyyyk troopers and gree. All other clone armour is meant to be white through and through. So chrome battle damage will be non-cannon.
might want to check with the other GMs here 1st though, that info is more from CT.net than GM specific

Good point Nate. I've been looking around at other wips and it seems that a white base, followed by dark grey, followed by the Red is the most viable option. Well, that's what they invented sanders for. Thanks for stopping me before I did it to my whole set.

No worries mate, im new to it as well. the uk gm's also found it useful to have a dark primer or undercoat (i use grey primer, black on dome, claret on dome) or else the rustoleum looks too red, if u know what I mean. And sand? Meh, just paint over mate, no one will ever tell after the weathering

I literally can't get Rustoleum Claret Wine into Australia. I've exhausted every avenue apart from having it sent illegally and I don't fancy copping a massive fine from customs. Did the darker undercoat affect the final colour of the Rustoleum much?

I'll let you know. I'm using a duple color charcoal engine primer in between white and red. So, I'll takes some pics of the final results.

I like the chrome touch, can't wait to see finished pics!!! HS - The chrome battle damage is non-cannon? Blast I wanted to do that, however, I will use your Primer/black/claret advise. Do you use flat black or gloss?? And did you use the primer/black/claret on all the armor pieces? My forearms were vac'ed in black plastic so the claret looked great on them and my hand armor, and I have a set of Laws chest and back armor on the way and am told that you really need to primer it first. (Waiting for my HS bucket!)
