I'm new to costume making, but I've always admired the work of people who make awesome looking star wars costumes, especially clones/storm troopers. And seeing as I really got back into Star Wars recently, I figured I'd try to make a clone outfit. Seems only fitting that if my future plans include the Marines, I make a clone marine (also cause they look so awesome).
-p.s. If I was supposed to register on the 501st boards first, sorry about that-

Thank you for your interest in costume building, and your future service with the Marine Corps. You have come to the right place on the GM armor. Feel free to ask as many questions and go over older posts. Lots of good knowledge here. Also, when do you plan on enlisting or are you already in the DEP? Sorry, I'm a former USMC Jarhead myself and part of the reason why I chose to troop a Galactic Marine.

Thank you for the welcome Sir. And I'm actually doing NROTC so I can be an officer. My dad was an enlisted man and that was my original plan, but the ability to have a college degree and serve our country is really great.
Sorry if you don't like officers Sir, hehe.

Outstanding. Soon, I'll be the one calling you sir. I got out the Marine Corps an E-4 (Hence my character name "Echo Four").

When did you serve? My pop went in in 1970-72 (active) and got out in '74 (I believe) at E-3.
Oh and the recruiters don't seem to be as interested anymore since I told them about wanting to do NROTC hahaha.

I served from 1998 - 2005. 1998-2002 Active. 2002-2005 Reserve.
I got out 100pts away from picking up Sgt. My MOS was usually always closed, and when it opened up, the cutting scores were always high.

At first I wanted to be an 0311, Infantry man but as I was enlisting, I was thinking of a career I could continue if I chose not to stay in the Corps so I went Admin. I figured Admin Jobs make some decent money. Wasn't sure what career opportunities would come my way if I served 4 years in Marine Corps as Infantry. Possibly law enforcement though for some reason I could never see myself as a Cop. After I got out, I was in the process of going back as a 4611, Combat Illustrator. Unfortunately, soon after I started my reenlistment paperwork I broke my Ankle, shattering a part of my upper Calcaneus. I had surgery ending up with 6 screws, 2 pins, and a small plate. Needless to say, no more reenlistment...and a larger gut. After I healed up (about 6 months later, once I got start walking w/o crutches), it got to the point where it get's a bit painful to run, and being USMC running is a big part of PT, which we do at least about 3x a week (Minimum 3 mile runs). Still hurts to this day sometimes. Xray:

That sucks, I always hate to hear about injuries messing with people's plans, especially those in the service (even more so a Marine!). And woah that's a lot of metal in there.

It's cool. the 53rd would probably not be here if I did stay a Jarhead. Yeah, they tried to give me upgrades like Darth Vader and Luke with all that metal.
