its a pep based helmet, but then extensively modified and filled in with bondo and clay think I have finally got it the way I want it dome and cheek wise still working on the eye sockets and smoothing though I was using screen caps and the already available ref pics to go by criticism welcomed Nate

Your bucket looks pretty mean. I'm digging the look though I think the rear vent might be a little too high and the bottom of the cheek area matches up with the bottom of the bucket which should be a little higher.

keep them criticisims coming guys! I hae a specific remit - avoid lookinig at SGB or eches builds - avoid GG bust - use the ref pics available but even that had its problems eg shows what i mean abt both the vent and the cheek level but then this ref seems to suggest that it should be higher as RamZ says but after seeing this **edit - can post the pics dont know why its in our own ref section. the pic from the movie with Barcara and the pic at the back of teh action figure (which also shows the higher riding back vent )

The white AO render from the image above was (From my understanding) the first basis for the GM...it did eventually change the as the upper image (turn around poses) suggests as far as the checks and bucket line up. I should have looked at other images for the vent. I saw this one right after your post www.flickr.com/photos/18057107@N00/351290257/...and it looked lined up, but now that I looking at it that may just be because of the angle he's looking at.

heh thats the way with CGI though is it ? its all abt the intepretation. thats why for as much as I like the SGB and Echoe sculpts, I wanted to avoid looking at em as it would influence how I interpretated it I got fed up trying to link the flickr pics, downloaded then uploaded into my own acct - hope you boys dont mind yellow circle is what I added from screen caps showing teh vent levels: pics backing of the toy - shows what I mean abt the vent AND the cheek level that along with the turn-around views convinced me that the vent should be at or just above the eye level and this pic again abt the cheek and bucket edge but pls - keep criticisms coming or if you think I am wrong in my observations

Looks good to me. I really like the built-in cheeks. Is this helmet (or later renditions) going to be a base for kits that are for sale?

Only if it meets with approval of the GM experts here. I am no big time maker; but would be happy to make kits available if there is enough interest
More sanding; and building the brow back in. More pics to follow

Count me interested once the GM pro's give their advice and the tweaks are made. I'd be willing to wait on buying a helmet if it's more accurate helmet, comes with cheeks built in, and a better beak.

cool - yeah I am taking my time on the sculpt as no deadline thanks for the interest! as for more accurate - dont know abt that, its just different from the others out there pics as promised - soz no grey primer colour, still mid sanding but as you can see the brow is lowered (I had removed abt 1 cm at 1st to get access to the nose and eye areas for sanding) my take on it is that the nose bridge comes up to the brow and touches it, but isnt actually a part of it (ie there is just enough space to fit in a cowl in between the nose and the brow)

With the exception of the small issue with the cheeks, your bucket is looking awesome.

Thanks man! Means a lot coming fr you dude. Mind explaining the issue with the cheeks? Thought we agreed that the cheekline and bucket line up? Or did misunderstand you?

That's what I meant. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding g. I'll post some pictures later on through out the week with details of what I mean. My weekdays are a bit hectic. Hopefully I can get some time with the Thanksgiving break.

Hey cloud; those pics u pm'd me arent ref pics dude; thats the sgb bucket. Purposely avoided looking at that lid and echoes as its kinda bad form to use someone elses work to build urs amongst us scratch builders although i am sure sgb wouldnt mind as i am not even close to being in the same league of talent he is! That being said; if u use the pics i posted up at the start of the thread; compare to my sculpt; i would value yours (and any1 elses) opinion really! Always like a fresh set of eyes on the build. I quite like my cheeks at the mo tbh. Its height relative to the helmet rim is pretty variable between the 2 cgi models; screen caps and the picture behind the toy. Think these 4 ref's sources are the only ones i wou,ld compare mine directly to. Unless someone out there has better ones they would like to share? ;p
