I am just in the beginning of GM research, I decided of all the armor I wanted to make a GM (though I only decided this yesterday). Is there a source on armor or parts, how do I begin? I am starting from scratch and want to get going.
On my home garrison site someone was selling an almost complete snowtrooper, but I was told that it is far too much to mod it. I am better to start from the beginning with a GM.
Any help would be great.
Richard

Hi Richard. Welcome to the 53rd FAC. Just of curiosity, how did you decide yesterday on picking the GM (good Choice, by the way), and how did you find out about us? Before I started with mine, I thought the same thing about a Snowie, but as I started I found out that besides the similar look, the Snowies and Galactic Marines are nothing alike. Hope this thread helps you out: 53rdfac.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=buy&thread=560&page=1-RamZ

I am currently 501st as an officer. I am working on upgrading my officer to the 1st Grand Moff Tarkin in the legion. I decided that I need a good set of armor as well. Everyone loves armor. So I found an armor choice that screams of me.

PM's galore sent. I used the where to thread on the armor parts. How picky is the legion on boots for approval? As the KC Pit Crew is scarce at best? The biggest element being the white color sole? Thank you everyone for the welcoming support.

As far as boots, you need to find a good substitute. Let your GML know ahead of time which boots you plan on using. Also, before that...it would help if you post here which ones you have in mind. Most Marines like to use the GBX boot with a sole similar to the Pit Crew on the original boot. Actually to sole should be Tan on a white boot. For the most part, we improvise.

I know that Giovanni on CT.net is in the development/research stage for an accurate boot for the GM. He has already produced the Movie accurate and the Animated boot for clones. They are extremely accurate and having a set in hand I can tell you their awesome. It's just a waiting game right now till he gets them done.

Greetings, Ive been looking over this site for a few days now, and am eager to get started working on a GM suit. I havnt submitted my application for the 501st yet because I dont have any costume to speak of. I've noticed that you guys are really good at helping and offering advice to us "boots". I will be moving back to Utah when my enlistments up in May, so figured this is the best place to start.
Thank you for all the help you can give, RedTail

I've had my GM for about 3 years, and I'm still not 501st. We are Galactic Marine specific though and it is one of the toughest builds (even tougher if it's your 1st armor). Don't want to scare you because even though it's tough, it's not impossible...just a little more costly. Feel free to to check the boards and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. We'll do our best to point you in the right direction. By the way, enlistment? Are you active duty or reserve? Either way, thank you for your service.

You cant scare me away that easily. I've come to understand that I picked one of the toughest armors to build, but that just seems to be my thing. And thats a shame, that it takes so long to become a registered member of the 501st, but I think this community will serve me just fine until that day comes. And yes, Coporal, I am on Active Duty. Gratitude and thank you as well, from one service member to another.
