Some of you may or may not frequent the dented helmet forums. As a Jango completist I have been there for many years and bought a pair of the finest Jango Fett replica boots available. Reinone is looking into doing another run eventually and this has spawned interest in "white" versions with tan soles. I already own a pair the Jango boots shown. Just thought you guys might be interested. The boots will run just over $200, if memory serves me correctly. www.thedentedhelmet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18289In my opinion, however, the soles are not as aggressive looking as those I've seen in GM reference images.

HMMM they slightly differ from the movie. They look fantastic though. Too bad they are 200 a pop. Wish I could afford that. If I could this project would have already been done.

Yeah, they do vary, but they have that high arch on the sole. I'm still looking around for good alternatives, but at this point, hiking boots seem to be the best alternative to those CGI boots with the "biker scout" tutorial for GM.

Yea hiking boots do appear to be the best for the sole. I'm using something with a lower ankle though for a bit more comfort. It's still got a good sized sole and I'm really not worried about some kid questioning the accuracy of my GM boots

Looking at the Sith snapshot reference image and scrutinizing the boots, they really are very similar to Jango's boots as far as the sole goes. They have the same arch (except the GM arch is much higher and deeper), aggressive sole with the lugs on the heels, square toe, and the "swoops" on the sides between the sole and upper. Shoes like Kenneth Coles, Bedford Stus, and other knock offs used these popular soles in the '90's. You'd be hard pressed to find shoes like this anymore, but once in a while you find them. I think Skechers also made a knock off pair at one time. My wife even owned a pair. Jeez!! I wish we would have kept them! They'd have been perfect for her GM!!!

Hey Skalen! Good meeting you at CIV ! Yeah, I am on that TDH list for an all white pair. I had a pair of Reione's I bought off Cruzer, as a base for my GM Boots, though I could't get my mind around it. The soles defiantly need to be thicker or higher. I hope Reinone can emulate that with the all white versions. They are awesome boots!

I just found a nice pair of hiking boots that I think will work well enough for the money. The lugs are aggressive with rounded gaps and a decent arch. It's a good base that I can figure out a way to build up a high arch with some kind of silicone rubber or something. Gonna have to do some research. I got 'em at WalMart for about $25. The reinone boots are awesome, but like you said, the soles aren't thick enough.
I've decided we'll never have the exact replica of those CGI boots unless we can find a boot maker to mold exact soles and create the uppers, etc. which would just cost too much. I'm very picky about the costumes I build (those of you know my Jango Fett and the lengths I went through to get the highest quality possible) and I feel comfortable about these boots. I'll post some pics very soon. I also bought the toy clone trooper blaster and I'm going to mod it.

Definitely post some pics of those boots soon. For $25 if I like the way they look I might go pick up a pair.

Here's the link to the Wal Mart item: www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4840898Heres a couple pics of the shoes I bought for my wife: The lugs look good, the toe isn't as square, but that's okay. I like the arch on both sides. I'm going to try and figure a way to mold that aggressive arch profile out of some kind of material that I can glue on to finish the look. I can also add the front and back swoops on both sides if I'm ambitious enough. If anybody has ideas on what kinds of material to use, please post them. In the meantime I'm going to experiment with conventional construction materials like foam rubber or craft foam. Not sure what its called, but I saw it used on a shoulder bell by another GM in these forums. Keep in mind this is a Wal Mart brand shoe and looking at the reviews on the site, the quality of the construction means it won't last long if you wear it all the time. I feel if you take care of it and don't troop in it continuously they'll last a while. For about $25 bucks out the door, I'll call these an excellent "version one" pair. Edit: I've also edited the title. Though it began as a discussion on reinones, I've transitioned to more cost effective boots.

Those look really good. I might go pick up a pair. I agree, the tread and arch both look really good.
Here a couple thoughts for the toe and other boot pieces. I personally will probably try to do something with plastic. I think that the hard plastic boot coverings would look good, as long as they don't make your feet uncomfortable. If comfort is more an issue, you could try leather and painting it white or white vinyl BUT in my opinion that would lose some of the accuracy with that look. Your call, just remember you may be walking around all day in these things, make sure they are comfy.
