Well, disaster has struck. After successfully removing the shell and the silicone mold, I proceeded to reassemble them to begin casting the first prototype. Then the shell took a tumble. I did manage to try expanding foam before the plaster, not as strong, but hopefully itll make do for at least one pull. Im glad I didnt chunk it in the garbage now lol. Well, Thursday Ill give it a go to try assembling it with the foam(had to strengthen it up a bit). Ill let you all know.

Good news I suppose though, the silicone is back on the model, and ive pinned it back together, the foam didnt hold its shape at all. But I think it will be ok to do another shell.

Well, first pic is the silicone pinned together(the pins arent pushed in all the way in the pic), and the second pic is the piece that survived the fall.

take your time brother. It's a busy time for all of us. I won't have time to continue my backpack until some time next year also.

Well, another change in plans. I cut the face from the helmet, totally against what my original plan was; to make it a solid one piece helmet. I think the issue Ive been having with the molding was the size, with the cheek piece, its huge(length wise). So Ill mold the mask and helmet in 2 pieces, but with "tabs" on the mask to attach to the helmet better.

I'm loving seeing more work on this. I feel like a kid waiting for a new toy to come out.

I feel like I am waiting in line. And I am wearing a shirt that says "The line for an Echo GM bucket starts here" on the back. You are all welcome to bring your sleeping bags.
