Ok, here's some pics: Base boots, bought from Sears, on sale about $50.00. I knew going in that the high-top would probably have to go, and it did. I cut them at ankle length: Covering with vinyl. I actually only fitted one boot. I got the pattern, then laid it across the backside of the extra vinyl, traced and cut for the second boot. It came out close enough for me: Calf armor. The backs are standard clone, can't remember who made the fronts, trying to go through my PMs lol. Later on I'll fill in the indents on the back. Because the curve of the backs doesn't match the straight edges of the front I'm having a little trouble lining them up as seamlessly as possible. I've put velcro on the insides of each piece and am using the vinyl as shims. It keeps them as flush as possible and no grey gaps, which is nice. I'm hoping that once I put the elastic straps on there it won't be too noticeable. Eventually I hope to heat-shape the shins to make them more flush. I'll be attaching one of the figure-8 vinyl pieces to each boot to hide that black area. Together with Sgtcarida's foot armor, still painting the boot soles, this is just a test fit: And the helmet. It's SGB and I've added a clay 'lip' on the nose to allow the silk cowl to hang properly. I'm thinking about adding some abs supports to better define the triangle indent as well. Maybe later though. I always wanted to be one of the guys who posted a picture of something with red clay on it lol So that's that. Not a heck of a lot left to do. Here's a basic run-down of what's left before my debut on 3/14: Attach silk cowl Sew and attach elastic straps to calves Attach figure-8 straps to each boot Attach shoe armor Finish painting boot soles Rig upper armor straps Weather boots, calves, kama, cowl ROCK ON wit ma bad self It'll be done in time, I'm looking forward to posting some completed shots. Thanks for reading, Phil

Couple pics to hold us over: Love everything so far except the toe armor. I may not fix it by the parade, but it'll be top of the list afterwards. I may use it as a base to sculpt a more accurate version... *though I really like the sweat pants I'm wearing there, I do have coveralls instead. I think the sweat pants look more substantial and realistic though, just need thigh pockets

I'm a little confused. I thought the toe armor extended up to cover over the top of the boot and meet the shin armor a bit. Which way is it supposed to be. I haven't been able to see a definitive shot to show me either way.

You're right, Leo, it does. Check the bottom of the first page of this thread: 53rdfac.proboards98.com/index.cgi?board=kama&action=display&thread=203best screen caps available I think. Right now I'm working with the armor that sgtcarida made. He shaped it over the end of a baseball bat. It's very creative and really takes the toe shape very well. But you're right, they don't extend as far up the shoe or at the correct angle. Plus the boots I'm using are several sizes bigger than he designed the armor for lol I plan to make more accurate boot armor soon, just maybe not before my debut Phil

Alrighty, got some work started here tonight: First off, sculpted on a rough toe armor shape. I'm going to be heating plastic up right over this, so the basic shape is all I'm after. I didn't feel the need to make the clay form perfect. Hoping it will be symmetrical enough that I can use another pull for the other boot. We'll see, not too optimistic about this part. On to the helmet. I doubled up on the bridal silk I bought because it was pretty shear, it showed details on the beak and I wanted to add some weight also. After looking at the Gentle Giant bust (and the digital model for GM) I am convinced that the intent is to have two 'cheek' areas that hold back the cowl, defining the triangular areas. There's just no other way to achieve this look that I can think of. So I made a couple of plastic flaps and made the cheeks, was really pretty simple. I am very pleased with how they came out. As for the silk vs. vinyl. Right now the only advantage is that I can look down. The silk still bunches up like the vinyl but it doesn't push the helmet up off my head when I tilt my head downward. The drape is too tight and you can see it coming up under the 'beak' form under the cowl. I plan to experiment with either cutting away some of the cowl behind the cheeks to relieve that tension, or to maybe cut the cowl differently to get it to behave more like the film versions. The helmet LOOKS really nice IMO. But when wearing it it just doesn't behave properly. Not much left. Forming the toe armor and making the right shoulder bell will be the trickiest. Expecting lots of progress tomorrow night Phil
