How is everybody, "attaching" the backpack to the backplate? Is it similar to a Boba jet pack harness set up?

Although I am still waiting for my back to arrive, I thought I would put the backpack straps through the back plate. I am also planning on having a chest strap too, like those nice hiking packs.

How is the Boba backpack attached? I was thinking of some sort of attach points on the back plate. Judging by the reference pics that I could see of the back plates it should have something, knowing of recon and rangers in the modern military work a quick release system would make sense.

I haven't finished my back plate or even started my backpack yet, but the idea I have been messing around with is molding the backplate's square box area (JUST the box) and somehow incorporating that into the underside of the backpack (the side that will touch the backplate) so they meet up perfectly (however you want it to sit) and then you could strap it down however. The only problem with that is that you would have to decide, before you integrate the box piece into the backpack, EXACTLY where it would sit. Saying that, once you install it into the back, there would be NO movement or adjustment. But think, if you figure it out to where you want it, it would NEVER move. Just stay put nicely on your backplate.

Agree, I was just thinking due to the premise of the GM's and what I know about rapid deployment forces. the more weight you can ditch before a fire fight the faster you will be.

LOL! I used a jetpack setup from TDH to attache mine. I put two little cuts above the backplate housing on my Laws armor and ran them thru there. I pull down on the front of the harness to tighten it up and the pack comes right up where it should rest.

Nice. Any pics on how it looks from the back? I would be interested in seeing that.

So would I. Sounds like what I was thinking. with one addition. over lap the straps and connect via velcro then if we get the final word on weither or not the backpack is nessacary you can have the option of both.

Necessary? You mean as official 501st? It will be necessary, trust me. Until someone can come up with some hard evidence to fight against it, the 501st will say that the back pack is necessary because it was in the movie. I don't agree with it, but it seems that the 501st does not like either of the Battlefront games for referrence, so if that's what you were thinking, I would recommend making the standard marine for official 501st sponsored events, and add/remove pieces for your own custom ideas (battlefront or whatever).

Well from what I hear they are starting to be a little more forgiving about some items. But I agree though make the backpack for offical events, and not have it for unoffical events. (besides you'll probably wear it more often, when do they have unoffcial events). I was just saying making a harness that could allow the easy removal and waering of the backpack.

Here is a picture of Boba Fett's Jetpack attached to the back plate. I too would also like some help with the attachment of the GM backpack.

I like that design. But is it attached near-waist at all?

This is an idea I got from my son's old car seat, a y strap that is pulled taught thru the bottom of the seat. I am working on the mechanics but something simpler and smaller.

I like that design. But is it attached near-waist at all? Can't tell in the picture, but the bottom side of that Boba Fett pack is rigged almost the same as the top. Near the bottom of the Armor. zharlich, much like you mentioned in the post above the mine. I am thinking of using an old ALICE pack frame for mine. Not sure it will work, but I will let every one here know if it does.

See, I like the ALICE pack idea, since it's pretty much already ready. Plus, military hardware is durable as hell. That thing will be around longer than you will...
