PLEASE NOTE: Most of these are COMIC BOOK references, and thus it should be taken into account that there is artistic variance at play here. You have to account for the artist not being able to reproduce the GM model in pencil and ink accurately 100%, so if certain parts are shaped differently from frame to frame, please assume this is what's happening. This is a standard occurrence across the board for comic book artists.
Nothing particularly of note about this reference. You mostly just see the troopers in all-white here.
Both troopers in this frame are seen carrying the DC-15 Carbine. The trooper on the left has no backpack (as evident by looking under his raised arm). Whether the trooper on the right has one is unknown because of how he's positioned.
Trooper seen carrying the DC-15 Long Rifle. Several things of note here, his shoulder bells are seemingly symmetrical. He also sports the Clone Trooper arm pad (in contrast with the standard GMs that don't have this), and his knee pads have some sort of ridge around them. We can also deduce that he is not wearing a backpack. If you look in the background, you can see a white GM sitting on the side turret of that Motmot. Then, in the foreground, we see the same type of turret that the trooper presumably dismounted from, with a full seat back. Since there is a full seat back, there would be no room for him to wear a backpack, so we have to assume he's not wearing one. Also, he doesn't have any thigh pockets.
The yellow stripe on the bottom appears to adorn the top of Commander Keller's hood, while the yellow strip on the top appears to be on the GM somewhere. It's quite oddly drawn, but it appears to go down the center of his mantle. Also note that this trooper does not have the back vent on his helmet.
here's where it gets fun. He has no backpack, but he has TWO thermal detonators. One on the back of his belt, and one on the bottom of his backplate. He also seems to have an extra box on the back of his belt, between the TD and his secondary belt pouch. He also sports the ridged knee armor, as discussed earlier. He doesn't have the helmet vent, and he also doesn't have any thigh pockets! We can also see the outline of the yellow stripe on the mantle piece, though it isn't colored in. Hmmm.
Just throwing this in for kicks. This is ALL pre-production artwork for Episode III. The bottom left corner shows some proposed artwork for the Galactic Marine, though it is in all white. He's not wearing a mantle, and due to the nature of this artwork eventually leading to the screen-used GM, we have to assume this is very early-on in pre-production.
I forget where this is from, but it's some artist's rendition of a white Galactic Marine stomping out some rebel scum. Presumably he's meshing Episode III with future events. Due to the very sketchy nature of this piece, and because it's just some promo art, it's not really a "reference," but it's related to this topic, so I threw it in here. Also, he's not wearing a backpack.
So here are some generalities we can derive from the above references:
NO backpacks
NO thigh pockets
NO helmet vent
NO special ridges on the left shoulder bell
Carried both the carbine and long rifle
Two (2) thermal detonators ( lower back & belt )
Possible stripe (yellow) on the mantle <- may be indicative of rank?
Symmetrical smooth shoulder bells.
Commpad on right forearm
So these guys are a little more different from the normal GMs than previously thought. It's not simply a white GM, so any potential costumers of this trooper should note these differences if shooting for accuracy.
