Verpine Weapon System

The weapon has found it's way into the hands of the 53rd's Second in Command ("L-T"). From Ray Ramirez' personal blog:
Arguably one of the most versatile and deadly weapons in the Star Wars universe, the Verpine Sniper weapon system comes with a hefty price tag. (Wouldn't we all like to have one! Some of us for more practical reasons than others.)
What makes this weapon so versatile is its ability to utilize not only multiple types of ammunition but also multiple calibers. Sometimes blasters just don't cut it, and as a sniper you don't want your position compromised by the trace of glowing bolts (unless you have an outlawed Stinger). Ammo choices are limited to what you can fit into the EM (electro magnetic) chamber. In addition to the ability to fire armor pircing ammo, explosive ammo, 2 stage explosive ammo, smart grenades, smokes, laser dissipating aerosol canisters, EM dust tags, tracking devises, EMP grenades, acid rounds, poison rounds, frangible ammo, you can load it with rocks, nuts or bolts, rivets, even hard candy zipping at 3000 feet per second will do the job. A super accelerated handful of dust and even water or ice could do considerable damage at close range. That's what you really are paying for. Almost unlimited combat usage. The weapon system's EM coil allows for the option of silent firing with subsonic settings for ammo according to the size and mass of the round. This has a variable effect on long range accuracy depending on the planets atmospheric make up, gravity, and weather because barometric activity will change from planet to planet.
The optics house a barometer that compensates and applies changes to scope settings. The shooter can also do this manually.
The optics have multiple filters allowing the shooter to scan for targets in various light spectrums. The EM filter can visually detect radio wave, and hyper wave transmissions that can be used to pinpoint a target otherwise invisible to visual and other light spectrums. The EM filter can work in tandem with the other filters allowing the shooter to track tagged targets while observing the target area in the most practical spectrum for the current mission. The scope's rangefinder and compass can be slaved to a GPS or alternative global tracking system to provide coordinates for pinpoint accuracy for ground, naval, and orbital artillery batteries. The ARD (anti reflective devise) on the objective lens keeps light from the internal workings of the scope bounce back to the target further concealing the shooter. The Verpine uses no active targeting systems to aim at or acquire targets keeping the shooter from being picked up by EM scanners.
The stock is also as functional as the rest of the weapons features and can be customized to fit the shooters dimensions and preferences. Its 30 cm barrel and collapsing stock make it concealable and light weight. Other features can be added as needed. A Togorian stock and optics housing will look drastically different from a stock made for a Gand, and that would be far different from one for a human. The function, capabilities and deadliness stay the same. The Verpine sniper weapon system is delicate in that if it is banged around or jolted enough, the slightest miscalibration will impede the weapon's effectiveness at extreme ranges. It will still work effectively at close range but your sniping abilities will be compromised. The weapon can be hardened against EMP, and slightly armored against kenetic shock but that comes at heafty upgrade costs as well.
This weapon has been a favorite of long range assassins since before the Clone Wars, and will continue to be.
