I know that I missed this conversation awhile ago (I think) but I see that there are three "rings" on this piece. The two identica ones on the top and the one d-ring on the bottom. I know the bottom attaches to the straps for the kama, but what do the top two attach to?

If I recall, the top two aren't so much D-rings as they are little trapezoids with either depressions in them or just loops cut all the way through them. Either way, they don't attach to anything, they are just part of the belt buckle assembly.

Ya I son't think they attach to anything. But hey on a different note a friend of mine wants to know if I would make resin casts of my belt buckles. What do you guys think? Is it a good idea?
I was also thinking of making some resin ammo boxes. Once again what do you think?

Are those the ones that you posted a pic of awhile ago? The ones that your friend might make resin copies of? If so, I say go for it. That would be sweet.

Yes those ones that I posted pics of are the ones I would make resin casts of. But Jason I was saying a friend of mine wants ME to make some so I will be making them. Also I will post pics of my ammo boxes and the clip that I will make resin casts of too. This will be some time in April when I can afford it but be looking forward to it.
Also I forgot to mention that I am making a DC-15 combine. It is almost done and I have practically no progress pics. Sorry but I will post pics in the correct thread. I will be making resin cast of this, but get this I have a way to make it light weight.
I am going to use smooth cast ROTO and make a holo shell of the DC-15 then I am going to pour urathane foam in it so it will be solid but it will be light weight. I think it is a great idea but I would like someopinions on it. I think MIKE would know the most but if anyone else has any ideas please tell me.
Sorry to get off subject.

Also I forgot to mention that I am making a DC-15 combine. A DC-15 Combine?!?! Sweet, now I can work on farm AND be a clone too. J/k. I think that would be a sweet idea though. Lightweight would be really nice. I don't know much about processes like that, but the lightweight would be great. I mean, I LOVE my PA DC-15S, but a little lighter for cons would be nice. IF your plan works for the carbine, are you planning on making the long rifle too with that same process/idea?

That sounds great, Preston! I'm not familiar with urethane foam (or maybe I am and I'm just having a brain-fart). How much does it expand? I don't know if foam has the expanding power to possibly crack the resin shell. Might be something someone else can chime in about though.

There are different types of foam and densities. some that self skin and others that don't dry with a skin. If the foam has a place to escape from it should not crack the urethane skin.
This is a rather advance hollow cast technique

Well I am glad you guys like the idea. And like Mike said the foam would not crack the resin as long as it had a hole to escape from. Also I will be uising a foam called DAP tek. It does not expand as much as other foams but is still SUPER light weight. The other advantage to this is that you would be able to install electronics in it.
As far as making a long rifle... The barrel is so long I would prob make the details out of resin and then just glue them onto a PVC pipe barrel. This woudl be the easiest and probably just as light weight as the other idea. If you want you can send me a PM and we can discuss it that way.

I would like to know about measurements and correct shape of the belt buckles. I've drawn these to see if this is more or less the correct design of the buckle. I know that references are hard to find, but maybe you know how they should look. Thanks

It depends on the size of the belt you are using. The dimensions on the previous posts are fairly accurate.

And what about the shape?, because I've seen rounded tops and parallelogram tops. I believe the consensus now is that they are the parallelogram type, right?.
Any of the proportion of the shapes I've posted above is preferred?
Thank you

I drew this up if its any help, if you print it to the 1 inch scale you should be able to measure it off.
