Shown below is the pattern I used to make my 2nd-gen fiberglass shoulder pads. This is the basic shape. Please note that this is not entirely accurate as far as shape goes. I need more sintra to make a more accurate 3rd-gen pauldron, but I don't have any. My 2nd-gens were made from the 1st-gen prototype (from which my current pauldrons were made), but I took a 1/2" out from the width of the center section. How to use it: This is a pattern based on a 1" scale. You may simply redraw it using the given measurements, or, if you'd like to print it out, do the following. Hold a ruler up to your screen, and resize the image so the little "1 inch scale" marker is actually 1" long according to the ruler you're holding. Then print it out, and it will be correctly sized. I did this with some quickie Fett armor once and it worked out great. Whenever I start to work on my 3rd-gen shoulder pauldrons, I will be basing them off these measurements, though the side panels will look considerably different.

I've decided to make mine out of stiff black foam. I have access to some nice stuff at work. It should be nice and confortable.

This is curious. The outside shape of it is different from that of the on-screen (or Sith Snapshot 2) version, but this connector in the middle makes sense of things. Of course, we'll have to assume it's not as radically HUGE as it is on the figure since they have to make the plastic thick enough to withstand wear and tear. But I now want to work on a completely new setup! This would certainly make things easier as far as shoulder strap setup. But who is this chum supposed to be? Certainly not Jango. EDIT: I spotted it! It's LAWRENCE FISHBURNE!

So, this middle section on the figure, is it on the GM's in the movies ? Just curious if this figure too was made using premature digital images prior to the movies release.

Well I talked to Ashton from Nyghtcraft Leatherwerks. And he is going to make a template for this and come up with a price. I guess several of us have talked to him about it. But I sent him the pic of the figure without the helmet and he's going to use that and a few other pics to make it. I've decided it would look best in leather and Ashton is THE MAN when it comes to these kind of things.

I very briefly considered him, but almost all of his other work is INCREDIBLY large on most troopers. I'm the size of a clone, and all of his pauldrons would look HUGE on me. If he came up with reasonable dimensions (based on average sizes, not his - he's a big guy), then maybe I'd consider his work. But until he makes smaller, more average sized parts, I'm gonna look elsewhere.
And I don't mean to knock him. I'm not. His work is very, very awesome as far as leather pauldrons go. But of all the troopers I've seen with his pauldrons, they were all pretty oversized. And with the GM pauldrons, you really don't want them to be oversized, they have to look right, or it'll throw everything off.
I can certainly contact him as well to see about working with custom measurements. I can express my concern for over-sized pauldrons, and maybe he'll consider working with custom shoulder widths or something. I just wouldn't want to pay out the wazoo for something that's too big on me.

I PM'd him back and said that it should be smaller than the base portion of this paldron.
