Place all helmet references here. Since this is a specific reference thread, please elaborate on the references you put up so we can understand what it is we're suppose to look at.

perhaps we should ask Jason first before measuring up his bucket out of respect, just a thought. He's pretty cool and I don't think he would mind, it just would be the right thing to do and ask.

Yeah I suggest getting SGB to answer these questions. Plus, some of these measurements would be around curves, and not straight-line measurements, so the actual measurements may be off. I'll get SGB to come answer them for ya!

Well SGB i have looked around and your helmet is just the best and i worked hard on making my oun measurements but i just wanted to see of there was anything i needed to change (general shape type stuff) i wasn't planning on just stealing your measurements i wanted to use them to help me with my helmet. Also i must say i would deffinetely buy one of your helmets if it was in my budget. If you feel you need to keep your measurements to yourself that is fine with me i understand if you dont want to give away your measurements. Also i am sorry if i offended you by not asking you first and i am sorry for not doing that.

No offense taken....but let me give you a little scenario that happened to me awhile back...not saying this is your intent but hear me out... Awhile back someone wanted measuremnts of my EIII clone i did so i happily gave them out....about a month later that same guy posted pics of his new helmet he made.....It was a recast of mine ...he argued the fact and said the reason it looked the same is because he used my measuremnts....well i dont care how good a sculptor you are and what measurements you have no one can duplicate someone elses work perfect by just using measurements...the funny thing is my EIII helmet isnt perfect by any means ....and had alot of tells in the sculpt asymetries etc... his helmet had the same flaws...now if your making your own helmet why would you sculpt in flaws? ? Anyway that kind of explains why I seem a little gun shy about giving out measurements...like I said Im sure your intentions are genuine and on the level but you also have to see where im coming from as well. My GM kits are $150.00 plus shipping of 13.00 and for people on a budget I gladly accept payment agreements. Ask anyone who knows me I dont keep secrets on prop stuff if you need any help Im here for you...I actually dont have aGM casted right now so I cant get you measurements.I dont have a problem with someone who has one posting the dimensions.

Hey that would be great if someone wants to help me out but did i hear you say that you would take payment in smaller increments? Because i think anyones dream is to have one of your helmets. Also i have to say I HATE HATE HATE recasters!!!!!! How can you fell good about yourself for copying someone elses work? But if you cant have a helmet casted and sent to me by atleast October 29th then i will have to make my own so if anyone wants to help me out i now have SGB's permission so PLEASE help me out here guys!!!

Since Jas gave the go ahead, I'll give you the measurements of my helmet in comparison with the ones in your sketch. I don't have any metric rulers around, so you're getting the measurements in inches, if that's alright. Front view measurementsEye to eye across forehead (your measurement was 18cm): 9.5 inches AROUND A CURVE! (That is critical, it's not a straight line measurement) Bottom edge L-R (your measurement was 22cm): 10.5 inches from tip to tip in a straight line. Rear view measurementsTop of dome to top edge of vent (your measurement was 12cm): 4.25 inches vertical tangent from top of vent. Width of helmet from ear to ear (your measurement was 20cm): 8.5 inches in straight line between ears. Side view measurementsLength front to back in straight line (yours was 24cm): 9 inches front to back in straight line. Top of eyes to bottom of helmet (yours was 17cm): 5.25 to 5.5 inches, it's hard to tell. Height of entire helmet (yours was 29cm): 10.25 inches Height of vent: 1 inch Width of vent: 12 inches AROUND A CURVE! (I felt this measurement should be in there) Length of helmet along bottom edge (yours was 27cm): 9 inches Hope that helps. Again, I'm sorry for the lack of a metric ruler.

Well here is the updated version of my measurements (just so you know jason i did not take all of yours and i modified the ones i took slightly). Well i guess everyone here is probably going to buy an SGB helmet but if this helps anyone besides me here ya go. Also Jason about purchasing a helmet from you would you really take like monthly payments of $30 bucks or so? and would you be able to have a helmet cast and arrived at my house by the 28th or so?

Curious. Is the slotted vent on the back of the helmet supposed to be backed with anything underneath?

Yes. I believe the captain uses a mesh screen (like for a screen door or something). That's what I would use too. In the screenshots for EP III it looks like a mesh screen of some kind. As long as it's black and keeps you cool, that's all that I am worried about.
