You've got a lot of work to do on those soles! I believe the right boots are those with a plain sole that you can cut later with a dremel instead of elaborated but inaccurate soles like these

I think they look pretty good from the side, the bottom isn't too important in my book.

Yeah I like the chunky look. Are you going to pain them tan? Are they are already broken in too:-)
As long as they are chunky and tan I really don't see a big deal with the soles. The GM standards can't be that picky as far as 501st goes right? 99.9% of the GMO's for each Garrison don't know what a GM should look like anyway, LOL!

shoes are just one of those things that can't really be recreated perfectly by the masses because of the amount of skill it takes. They need to look good, they don't need to look perfect

They are VERY used but the soles are good and thats all I wanted them for. And they have a very low ankle so they will fit good with the shin armor. I do need to get some insoles for them, as they did not come with any. Are we so sure it is tan for the soles? Some pics look tan while the real close ups look grey. But the movie is kind of dark in those scenes. I think Torso Boy went with grey.

I think torso boy had tan, but realistically you go with what you see and if you see grey then that's what you should do. I don't really remember why we decided to do tan either, maybe it was a holdover from regular clones?

Next, in these ROTS pics it looks grey: But in this one from the Bacara action figure cardback it looks tan: The sloes seem to match the color of the cheek things and the belt pouches. I am not sure.

sorry guys but i just don't understand being accurate on small things like the right shoulder ridges and the dimension of the kama white border and then using the most inaccurate thing to cover your feet because boots are hard to find and not easy to make. I understand that boots are not an easy part and it's not easy to find the real kenneth cole, but we should try to be accurate on the boots as well! I payed mine 20 dollars, they are black, have very tall plain sole. With a dremel and half an hour i cut the soles and with another hour i painted them white with shoe paint. The point is not to find the accurate boots, it's to find boots that are easy and suitable to be converted.

I agree, but here in the US it can be VERY hard to find stuff like that. Where did you get yours?

I think the general idea is that the boots aren't nearly as visible as the rest of the costume. I agree that being as accurate as possible is a good thing, but I'm not going to break my back to get perfect soles. You can't even see them unless someone watches the underside of your feet as you walk. At least, I wouldn't break my back for v1 of my armor 8)

Wow, Snowflake yours look great. I am sorry that I was not able to get something so close. I have never seen ANYTHING close for sale. I have only seen what others were able to find in a "one of kind" type of thing. The base shoes I have chosen look close enough for something that is bearly visible. But hey, my armor is made our cardboard! SO I will not be 100% acurate anyway. We will see when the whole thing is done. Maybe it will be accepted or maybe I will have to go back and change things. I am shooting for a cheap, mostly scratch built, close to screen accurate costume. My goal is to be done and a full member of Garrison Excelsior before they come to my town for free comic book day on May 3rd.
