Well as the topic says, Ill be attempting to build as much of the armor pieces I can from scratch. I already finished the buck for the hands.
Now Im working on the shoulder bells and the gaunts. Hopefully Ill be able to post pics in just a little bit.
EDIT: After more research, and comparing them to RamZnations, I decided to have another go at the hand guards too. The left shoulder bell came out nice for being made of paper for now.
Also, got some work done on the helmet. Got its first layer(s) of resin already, looks decent thus far.

Well, heres the pic of the left bell. It may look really flimsy, but its coated in truck bed liner, then paint... not exactly by the book, but until its smoothed out and molded, its the BEST way for it to keep its shape. Also, helmet got bondod already, need to hit it with resin in a few places once I finish sanding it down, as I ran out of bondo... (Pic soon)

And heres the bucket, bondod, and painted a little for the next sanding. I ran out of bondo, so I may have to use a little resin to finish it up. Painted it up a little with a rattle can I had, now it looks a bit more 53rd

The bucket is definitely looking good Any thoughts of offering your parts for sale or is it just a personal run? After identifying a couple of shortcomings in the SGB bucket I'm really excited to see either him or someone else take another stab at it Solving the problem of the wraparound cheek and making the cowl hang properly are really bugging me Phil

After talking to my very patient wife, shes going to let me make a run of them, try to keep it to a limit of probably 10. Ive cut the cowl piece, will start molding it up today. I want to integrate the extended cowl version, as it looks more accurate, I believe SGB was gonna do it for his v2... Im just gonna make it my V1 . As we speak, the helmet has got the rest of the bondo done, and the cowl has its first layer of resin and glass... all thats left before sculpting is the forehead piece that I cant mold until the helmet is done. ALSO: Just a helpful tip for anyone scratch building their own...anything, armor, helmet, whatever. On a sunny day if you put the piece of bondod armor in a cardboard box lined with foil (bondo must not be completely set, just a bit dry), in sunlight for a little while, you can twist it and bend it until its symmetric. Atleast here in Texas it works.

Its more or less a make-shift oven. It used to work against me until I figured if I did that then took it into the house, it would form correctly. Today I start building up the cowl piece.

Awesome bro. Can't wait to check it out. Unfortunatley I won't be able to work on my armor thia weekend since I'm going to Disneyland (it's the unofficial Star Wars fan day today) and tomorrow I have some personal things to do. Next week it's back to buisness though as I want to work on it every weekend until San Diego Comic Con.

Well, the helmet has been movin forward... really slow lol. I did finally cut the excess off and had to scrap the faceplate I was workin on, it warped really bad when I made the mistake of leavin it outside all day. Pics soon for the bucket.

Standing by to wee those WIP. No worries on how slow it may take to move forward, that just gives you more time to make it better. Sorry to hear about the faceplate. Now that you know the discrepancy, you should make the next version even better and maybe even faster.

Well, good news... After some back and forth with the new faceplate, Ive decided to go a different route and sculpt it all at one time. This will ensure perfect shape, as well as my plan for the extended and removable faceplate. The Z-6 is getting the greeblies made into bucks for the molds, and some of the armor pieces are ready to be vac formed. Looks like it may be next weekend before anything else gets done though Edit: Heres the pic of the helm, now set aside as a reference for the next attempt. (Size was perfect, just had to much side flare :/ )
