Hello Tbone and welcome to the boards, glad to have you here. Thanks for posting up the pics of your work. That's pretty dang good for a first shot! Not sure how much you're going for accuracy, but there's some things I'd tweak and change a bit if you're looking to get it a little more in line with the movie stills and reference material. The proportions and scale looks pretty good for the most part, but I think your helmet might be a tad bit too large (it looks good though). I'd scale it down about 10-15% and see what it looks like after that. The neck ring should be a bit smaller and closer inside around the neck area (under the 'skirt' of the back of the helmet) Epaulets look pretty good, the only thing I would do to those would be to add that raised ridge across the top from side to side (on the flat horizontal part) The right shoulder bell shape looks good, but I'd shorten it a bit..it's too long. Your left bell resembles more of a clone trooper bell than a GM bell, in my opinion. Try modeling it after the Kasshykk trooper shoulder bell instead, that's exactly what it should look like The chest shape overall looks pretty dang good...I'd shorten it just a tad though, it looks a bit too long. As for the knees, shins and boot armor, you're gonna probably need to make some changes there: The knees are waaay too long from the dividing line on down (the tops of them look correct though), cut those bad boys down about 40% or so and they should look just about right Also, the knees shouldn't touch the shins at all (so you might have to take some off the top of the shins as well, but not much) Those shins are gonna need some help. The overall shape is off quite a bit (needs more in the calf area and less around the ankle...kinda slope it the shape of the way a leg naturally curves from the knee down...if that makes sense) and that raised ridge that runs down the middle should 'blend' into the shin at the top and bottom. The boots look like they're off to a good start but they should conform to the shape of the boot a bit more and not 'flare out' quite so much around the bottom edge. Also, the front of the bottom the shins slip under the back of the boot armor. Scoot those boot pieces back a bit to make them mate with the shins and it'll look a lot better. The backpack looks really good (looks like it was modeled after mine??) I wouldn't change a thing lol You're off to a great start and hope all that info helps! Looking forward to seeing your progress -RKD

Thanks for the input. I've already been looking at some of the things you mentioned. I've raised the back collar and it does look better. 10% on the helmet was way too much. It wouldn't fit the model. However just 5% made a big difference. I had to make the dome just a little taller to still fit but it is still a big difference. So far that's all I've gotten to. I'll post more pics after all the tweaks. BTW... It is images of your pack that I used for 99.9% of the reference photos. I hope I'm not stepping on your toes. I just hope to be able to make this thing worthy for all to use.

I love pepakura! I don't render 3-D models but I down load and build a lot of stuff. I will be watching your progress with great interest.

Wow I guess I was pretty far off on my percentages, sorry about that! Sounds great though, looking forward to seeing your progress and the new adjustments BTW... It is images of your pack that I used for 99.9% of the reference photos. I hope I'm not stepping on your toes. Not at all my man, glad to be of help If you want reference for an INCREDIBLY accurate backpack, check out Barry's (banzai88) over on CT.net. There's a thread showing his sculpt process and lots of pics. I think his is more accurate than mine actually.

Oh yeah... The ridges on the shins do fade into the top and bottom. It just doesn't seem to show up well in the images.

Looks better but I still think you need to make some further tweaks to it Take a look at this reference pic to see what I mean Here's what the left shoulder bell should look like: That being said, your right bell is still too long. Here they are compared to each other in size And here the GM bells are next to a clone bell (for size reference) Your knees look about the right size overall, but you need to slope down the outer sides more Here's what they should look like For the shins, take a look at these reference pics Here's what mine look like. Notice where the raised ridge ends on the top and bottom. I still think you need to fix the boot armor, it looks off to me somehow. The toe section is too long and flat and the back area doesn't quite flare up enough And here's how they should mate up with the shins, per the ref photos The neck ring on the helmet is still not quite right. Check out how I'm doing mine Also, your dome is still a bit too bulbous. Here's another shot Hope that helps get you more on track with this, good luck!

I've made some more tweaks and I think we're getting close. Thanks again to RKD for the reference images. Here are some more pics. This one shows the new left bell, the mod on the epaulet, the chest, and the helmet dome mods. I also tweaked the "skirt" around the bottom of the helmet. Another shot of the helmet from the side. The next three shots show the tweaked knees, and all new shin/calf and toe armor. As always feel free to chime in and let me know if you see anything I missed or need to address. I want to get this as close as I can so that there might not be as much work for the endusers... and probably myself. Take care- T_B

MUCH better Although you posted the same pic twice at the top. Would love to see the side shot of the helmet.

It takes some getting used. The key is quick setting glue and patience, lots of it at times. I've seen where some guys are using super glue (CA glue) and "Zip Kicker" for an instant cure on their builds.
